What is a good audio editor to have on hand? Would like a lot of cool features.

Freeware or otherwise, it don't matter?

Yes, Sound Forge is my favorite editor too, use it all the time.

yes. me too.. started using sound forge way back since version 4 when they are under sonic foundry (now sony since version 8)

Steinberg Wavelab:-)

I use Adobe Audition. Audition really just is "Cool Edit Pro", which I used to use and a good program if you can find a used old version or something. Love Adobe's products though because it directly integrates with Premier (for video editing), After Effects, Photoshop, etc.

I did recently download the freeware software called "Audacity" and it looks pretty interesting. I haven't had time to really play with it yet but for being free, it seems to have pretty much all the useful features.

You can find Audacity at: http://audacity.sourceforge.net
