I have been using VDJ for some time now, i use the Hercules 5.1 sound card and find it perfect for this software, the sound card is good cause you can use headphone too.

most modern soundcard will work fine :)
A 5.1 soundcard (hercules, audigy etc) will give u 2 x stereo sound for both decks, and the ability to prelisten at headphones... :)
a soundcard with 24bit dac is giving u great sound :)
