I often experiencing a problem when using my external hard drive with VDJ.
Sometimes i i get really slow access speeds to the music on it. Takes ages for a track to load and VDJ ends up slowing down it's GUI refresh rate to accomadate
This doesn't happen all the time, only sometimes. It's almost as if it's running at USB 1 speed.
I had the same problem with 3 different make & model of USB 2 drives.
My laptops only has 2 USB slots on board, so i'm using a powered USB2 hub
I have 3 usb devices connected, External USB drive, Hercules MK2 and Numark Total Control.
I dont receive any error messages, VDJ doesn't crash, it still pumps out the Audio fine, but loading tracks and the GUI refresh rate drop right down.
If the problem occurs at all it will continue to occur unless i reboot, after which sometimes the problem is resolved, sometimes it isn't.
Any ideas on what might be causing this problem?

Wow, Hercules MK2 and Numark Total Control together? Can it work that way? It might be that your USB is overloaded, check IRQ sharing to see is there any conflicts.

Maybe having A firewire HD would be helping lots

try using a powered usb hub sounds like u might be running out of power on ur usb bus
