damn?

I should start a vegas video tutorual

That would be great as I wouldnt even know where to start:)

i use funkymixes/jymixes/ultimixes audio and edit the videos taking parts without vocals to cover the extra bars in the mixes.

although i'm not really going to post them lol.

so far i have about 50 personal edits

Yeah right, put your money where your mouth is, you talk a lot of shit, I dare you, pretty please.

Since its against copyright laws and stuff to redit vids and stuff and people do it anyways. Maybe we should make community of vid remixes for promo use only so that you dont have the same people remixing the same vids?

I like remixing vids and share them amongst friends and vice versa. We make sure we dont remix the same vids however. Simple stuff just overlay funkymix or dj tracks of the vids just to get a 32beat intro.

There are videos available on the net.... you just have to find them. I downloaded a cd of tutorials and taught myself from that.

i have been making my own and trying to upload to divshare but is taking too long! will hopefully have some videos on smashvidz.com

None of the video editing stuff I found was specifically geared towards video djing and music videos. I'm considering making my own quickstart guide with the information that video djs need to get up and running as fast as possible. Of course I wouldn't do the guide on Vegas, it would be Final Cut Studio all the way.

whats jymixes?

taking any 8 bar intro & outros is what i'm talkin. there will be a huge demand for it soon enough.

@ man don't i always put my money where my mouth is? waiting on camvid or whatever its called to be vista compatible. (desktop recorder)

i'll make a very basic tutorial soon.

There are videos like this but they're for sale. Also my 12inch.com has some...but again u have to pay for them on top of the monthly subscription.

@ marze e-mail smashvidz & i'm sure they will give you ftp access. but make sure your not trying to send a full avi haha. thats probaly y its taking so long on divshare. it shouldn't be bigger then 200 mb being a mpg. but i would just do a divx file which will be an average of 80mb (2700kbps)

I have been doing computer based video remixes/edits or re-working videos for DJ friendly mixing for about 8 years now. Before that I was using analog tape based editing... that was a pain.

I have used in my early years Adobe Premiere Pro & Avid. I do find that Sony Vegas is the best solution for music video editing for this application. It has a better control over the audio to sync with video. Sony Vegas also works like a multi-track production tool like Pro-Tools which includes running real-time effects per track, etc. The ease of time stretching the video to sync up with audio works well and I use it often when I am replacing audio that has a different tempo from the video's original audio. Also the fact it has full native support of MPG-2 video content. Which means you can rip a video from a DVD in MPG-2 and use it in Vegas without having to re-render it to another format for editing. Adobe Premiere requires plug-ins in order for this to happen.

I have hundreds of custom edits and video remixes. There is NO way I would post them on the web or even attempt to sell them or share them with anyone. I consider these my exclusive tools for my shows that set me apart from others. The only way I could see my video productions skills being used for distribution is if I was working for a legitimate video service like Promo Only and everything was LEGAL!! (... and I would be getting paid!)

I will however will be posting a video mix demo soon which should include some of the exclusive video edits throughout the mix.

there soon will be more LEGAL places to get this content! my12inch is currently one. but until then djs have to do what we've always done. survive. like uummmm..record off bet ha.........or u can be the dj that waits for promoonly to finally get permission to sell them. (kinda like the dj didn't play the new tracks on cd because he didn't have the vinyl) But just like with mp3's the labels will catch up to the times & music videos will be readily available to djs before you see it in tv.
