If you go to a guitar center, they have a "dj pack" that includes a bag and a stand (The bag is made by Odyssey and can fit most dj equipment). The stand that comes with the bag is good in the fact it can be set up by itself, connected to a case, or connected to the table. If you have a laptop bigger than 17 inches it wont be good at all, even the 17 inch laptop is pushing it.
If you work on a stage and people are jumping around the laptop may hop off the safeguards (if this happens all you will notice and u just put it back down in the secure area). I tape my laptop onto the safeguards with shipping tape just in case.
Before I had the stand I used a case for equipment as a stand (e.g. road ready).

Yes and stay away from SamAsh. Most of the time, they are a rip off.

I use the Odyssey L Stand. I have a 17" Lappy and it works perfect. It can be adjusted for height and width. It also can clamp on to a coffin or just slide underneath your mixer.
