Sujet: Moving Files - Clean Database - Lose Info?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I went through a whole folder and clicked on the FILE INFO for each and cleaned up each file how I like it....get BPM from tag...Comment...Genre...etc...

Everything looked good...

Then I decided I wanted to move those files into a different folder....so i moved them all.....went into the database cleanup in the software options and clicked on all 3 options...i not sure what they are called since I am not on my system right now....i think its like clean...fix...and someting else....

I went back to those files and they were all back to the original way....no more comments...BPM back to the VDJ scan etc....

Did i wipe out the data when I went into the database cleanup?

___________

Also I'm wondering whats the best way to make an identical copy of my files with the database changes I have made....

I have 2 laptops and would like to have all the same music on both along with my comments and bpm tweaks in case of an emergency...

I imagaine I would have to copy the files to the exact folder name on both systems....and then copy over the database file???

If you want to move your files and keep your data, you have to do it with VirtualDJ and not with Windows otherwise you will loose your data because the path of the song is not updated in the database

OK...Thanks....Hopefully this post will save others some time...and not make the mistake I made by usuing windows explorer to move my files.

I'm not in front of my system now...but I will try it when I get home....but I'm wondering can you do multiple files at a time from one folder to the other.....

also any insight on trying to make a complete backup system how I described in the previous post....(2 Laptops with same files and same database)
