im not certain but does vdj have a mic channel? If so how does it work in relation to selecting sound card? Or does it just use what ever voice recording sound card is selected in windows?

some of the skins can support a mic , but i believe it routes to the system card , so you can not run it into your pro sound card ....
i know Tear EmUp who is one of the VDJ radio jocks uses the Blue Snowball ........

You need to enable the mic input at your soundcard as DEFAULT mic in Windows soundcard setting.
There are a few skins that can adjust the mic level directly from within VDJ then..
If you favorite skin does not have such a slider, you can make a keyboard or midi shortcut and use that to adjust.
Map the function "mic_volume" inside VirtualDJ
