Hello,

I'm ripping videoclips from my own dvd's.
When I open de mpg file, the quality from the videofile is not very sharp.
How can I rip to mpg files with the highest possible quality, so that the videofile looks as sharp as the original?

Took my time to read your manuals.

Worked the way you told me.

That's great, but now I found within Imtoodvdripper that I can the videoclips to vob files.
It's just one click and now I have the best quality I want ( only thing is that is three times bigger then my mpg file, nut we have big harddisks these days.)

You can always use tmpgenc 4 to convert to any other format you like. Mpeg1 works fine for me.
 
Yes that's what I will do now.
 
If you want full quality videos , use dvd decrypter, you'll notice the difference from i'mtoo dvd ripper.

BTW: you'll need to have enough space on your hard disk.
 
Ok, I can make vob files that are 100-300 MB
They are from a high quality.
I also can make mpg files that are 50 MB
The quality is not the same but less space needed on the HD.

But do we need hihg qauality videoclips?
If you don't see a big difference on the screen, why using high quality videoclips.
Or do you say that there is a big quality difference?
 
It depends Anthony, if you are just sending your video to say a 22" monitor then it may look fine, if you send it to a projector and you're making it 8 feet by 5 feet or whatever, you are going to see a difference.

My mpeg1's come out at about 130 meg, the vobs are about 220 or so. You have to experimant and come to a decision tailored for what you want to do with it.

I only have a beamer and a 2 x 2 meter screen for karaoke and mixing video.
But my laptop can only mix video WITHOUT hardware acceleration enabled with an average of 50 mb mpg file.
If I use vobs that are more then 100 mb, thr playing videoclip stops for a second if I load the othet player.

Laptop is a ACer Aspire 7520 with 2 gb RAM
Videocard is a Geforce 8400M G with 256 mb dedicated memory.

Can't get this good working with high qauality vobs or mpg file without interruption of the playing videoclip
