Sujet: Strangest Fault Ever !!! Please help

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Ok

I am building a state of the art DJ PC in a 19" rack.

I am using all high end components (current system)

1) P35 Gigabyte Motherboard
2) 1000watt Enamax PSU
3) Intel Duelcore 2.6 ghz
4) Kingston 2 gigs memory DDR2
5) WD Rapster 74 Gig as my boot drive
6) TV/CRT on Svideo connector
7) esata 500 gig external HD
8) Audigy 2 zs sound card
9) Plextor DVD reader

Before i Start i have changed the graphics card 3 times this week trying 2 Nvidia / 1 Abit.... still no joy !

My problem is as follows I get random line accross my CRT screens when playing vob video files ??? (not on Virtual DJ Screen)

Ok I thought they were random but there NOT, If I pause the video playing .... Perfect paused picture, no lines.

If I scratch with my mouse on the virtual DJ deck between frames fast I can generate the fault i.e. lines (that travel between the top and bottom of the CRT/TV) not the pc monitor.

When the line starts at the top of the screen it takes about 50 seconds before it hits the bottom and then starts all over again from top to bottom. But to see this I have to keep scratching between frames.

BUT they slowly progress down the CRT until they dissapear of the bottom of the screen and then reapear at the top and work there way down again.

These lines also show when playing the video normaly, but I just see lines at diffrent parts on the screen when video changes frames.

I have only noticed this since introducing my new PSU after my old PSU went bang last week, but its not the new PSU as I have tried a different PSU ??

I wondered weather the old power supply going bang has done any other damage, but i'm only left with the intel duel core psu now to change, everything else has been changed..

I have tried 3 diffferent graphics cards, New Motherboard today, running off a different power socket.

The only difference is the faultys pc system is set up in my workshop at the moment ??

I tried the same external video HD on my office and play the same viedo on virtual DJ with no lines on my CRT ??? every works fine

Its almost like some interfeance or scanning frequency scrolling down the screen, but only occours when changing frames, when you pause no lines or Interference

Please help this is driving me mad, I have been on this fault for over a week and running out of thing to change

This may seem strange but have you got a power supply near the system? Something like a PSU for a speaker system, anything like that? Anything that's creating a magnetic field near the affected CRT's? I had a similar thing once and it was the PSU for a speaker system that was too close to the monitors. Also maybe try a different lead for the CRT if it's a detachable one, if may be picking up interence from something.

Hi again

I have tried diffrent power cables etc, but surly if it was interference you would see the line on the crt all the time, It seems to be a signal comming out the Svideo socket of the video card Only when chaging frames ???

if i choose 1/2 loop while playing a vob dvd on the virtual DJ deck

I can simulate the line fault the line starts at the top of my screen and ends up at the botom 30 seconds later

I almost at the stage of givin up I have changed everything and been on this a week its cost a bomb in changing hardware !

It actually sounds like a video sync issue. May want to check the software settings for sync on the card.

Seen this before too, its usually a ground fault on the monitor. However without seeing it its just a guess.

Hi

I am a qualified electronic engineer, and have had the scope on all this kit to night trying to get to the bottom of this.

It seems to that adding two video cards is the closest I have to to curing this problem

The problem also occours in power DVD etc., I think its an issue with the new Gigabyte P35-DQ6 when using two outputs on the video card

both video cards are pci express x16, the problem seems to disapear when using two video cards one for output to crt and the other for windows / virtual DJ

Don't know weather to order up two identicle video cards ??

Wouldn't it be cheaper and more efficient to change the motherboard? To be honest i don't rate gigabyte that highly, I'm an Abit man through & through.

Yes

The 1st motherboard I tried was the asus p35 chipset, fast board but I have always favoured giga-byte, but i'm not sure if the are starting to loose the plot.

So I left the asus and have trying to get this Giga-byte board working ever since.

One thing I have found in all this testing is ....

With two video cards windows seems much faster for everything, minute i seem to enable a 2nd video out on the same card (i.e. extend desktop) everything become slugglish i.e. to much for one card !! (even noticed my 8800 gtx)

So my thought is to use one video card for windows and desktop and the other for HDI and svideo output (should keep the system flying)

As for this board not sure ???? (I just want the fasted board with intel processor / chipset)

I have now used up my two PCIE x16 slots with two video cards, which has upset me as i wanted one more PCIE x16 for a SAS controller (Scsi Attatch Storeage) for my external storege.

Does anyone know of a ultra fast board with 3 PCIE x16 slots
