Sujet: Numark Total Control please please help

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I am currently using Virtual DJ with both the Numark Total Control control sufrace and the Numark DJ IO. Ive been using this combination for an approximate time of 6 months. However, just recently ive been having problems with the Total Control- it seems like one equalizer knob in particular tends to feed wrong information to the Virtual DJ software. Just by barely and continuously tapping the knob- without turning it all- the internal equalizer in Virtual DJ reads chaotic movement in the same knob, as if I were actually turning it in a certain direction. After a couple of seconds, its as if the program realized that the knob has in fact not moved, and so it returns to its original position. This pattern repeats itself until you basically stop touching the knob . As you might imagine, its been a complete nightmare.... I would really really appreciate suggestions or comments regarding this problem. Thank you so much.

have you tried a reinstall of cue le?

i have- i even updated to the newest version. quite honestly i dont think the problem is software, because if it were there would be multiple equalizer knobs having the same problem, which is not the case (there is only one). even though ive only had the Total Control for 6 months, ive used it very very regularly so im beginning to think that the problem is actually within the mixer itself. I dont know what else to think. Ive been keeping it clean, and i handle it gently during mixes. Other than this issue, it hasnt given me any problems. I would appreciate your continued comments. Thank you so much

i suggest you contact numark support directly and ask for advice and as its only 6 months old it will be underwarrenty

See, that's the problem. You have to treat it like the big boys. You've raised A wimpy controller and now everytime you touch it falls down like you hurt it. I treat my MK2 with respect it deserves. I beat juggle with it. Slamming the fader from side to side. I twist the knobs like their on the Red Light District " think about it". I move the up / down fader like a zipper after a couple of beers.

It just wants to be respected like the more expensive mixers... Hell, it has more duties than most and you want to baby it. C'mon man, give it pair.

Ok, seriously... contact numark

Thank you so much for your help, I think I understand what you are saying, although Im not quite sure how being more aggressive with the EQ knobs will fix or would have initially avoided the problem ... I remember one of the setbacks or problems that I initially saw with the Total Control was that it didnt seem "sturdy" enough- the faders and the eq knobs are made of plastic, unlike other mixers which have actual metal parts. However, I bought it simply because it gave me the best solution for the best price to the problem I had, which was that I hadnt ever before had an external equalizer and needed one to pull off more complicated mixes with Virtual DJ.

Anyway, I have already contacted numark, as you suggest, and am waiting for their response. However, one of the things that I am forced to think about is having to buy a new mixer. I was thinking of going for the Numark DXM Pro, and to wire it through the DJ IO with regular RCA stereo cables. Does anyone know if this is possible? Is it possible at all to use a non-USB or MIDI controller with Virtual DJ, taking in consideration the possiblity of using the DJ IO as a go-between?

I am interested in the Numark DXM Pro essentially because it is a digital, simple controller which has nothing more and nothing less than what I actually need to pull off electronica mixes (technically speaking I could use the jog wheels on the Total Control and the EQ on the DXM Pro if both were connected), and which from the reviews ive read, also promises quality. I would appreciate your feedback and comments on this idea.
