Sujet Developers.... Karaoke!?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Still not able to open a lot of my karaoke files. Can anyone work on resolving this? I have been in touch with MP3jRick and sent him an example of a file that is not able to be opened.. but never got anything in reply.

Here is the same file I sent him. I can send you a few more to try and resolve the compression issue if needed. I have over 180,000 songs and converting them just is not at all practical when I have software that opens it just fine. Would love to use one software title for everything though...

Did you try to unzip and re-zip just using windows???

I have the same issue myself, the only way to fix it is to unzip everything, uses up most of your HD space but thats the best you can hope for till VDJ addresses the issue, plus, I have over 200,000 titles and Virtual DJ does not want to load them. I can wait for hours when trying to start the program and then one second later, the program opens. I try to add my karaoke folder and VDJ just flat out refuses to see it or something. All I know is I followed the directions in setup verbatim, all the newest drivers on a fresh install of XP Media Center 2005 and I have left it run overnight trying to get it to finally load the karaoke directory and it flat out refuses. It seems to be a flaw with VDJ and the Karaoke function. I currently use Swift Elite for Karaoke and VDJ for DJ work. I would, however, prefer to do my shows using only ONE PROGRAM. ANY help would be appreciated. Mind you, I have been using VDJ for many years now and am in no way an amateur or newbie. Any ideas guys???? My rig is as follows:

Toshiba Qosmio G25 AV-513 2.0 ghz 2 Gigs of RAM
WD My Book Pro 1 TB External USB 2.0 HD
Logitech Wireless Mouse
Echo Audio Indigo DJ PCMCIA Sound Card
S-Video to External Flat Screen Monitor

ps. About unzipping then re zipping the files.....Unzipping it all onto the HD fills it up more than necessary and re zipping 200,000 Karaoke Trax is, needless to say, ridiculous.

I too use 2 types of software I wish they would fix this problem in vdj before they move on to adding more features!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DJScobrian... can you stop by and do that for me? lol....

Short of playing around with unzipping every folder, why not just fix the *problem* in VDJ instead of pointing fingers at compression standards? No offense, but Atomix's take on this issue is sort of like selling someone a CD player that doesn't work and then telling them to replace all of their CDs with a new type.

Here is the link to a functioning plugin (requires WinAMP)
http://home.comcast.net/~hamiltonrob/mp3gplug.exe

The software above has never frozen up (and yes.. it's freeware so not publishing warez... just seems the publisher's site is running slow) The link to their site is http://www.physysteme.com/gen_cdg.html

Yes, it would be a "no-no" to decompile the software.. but if it gets you the correct answer?

I am willing to give you anything you need to help... I will even gladly do hardcore testing of alpha/beta/RC software... running it against my list of songs that do not work.

Just tryin to give ya a work around as I know nothing about what causes VDJ to do that.

Here are the properties of your file and I can see once again that it was zipped with MP3+G Toolz .NET

Ok so is there a way to do this with multiple files (batch), if there were a software to do it I think this would save guys a lot of stress and time... Sooo if there is anyone out there that knows of such a program chime in here and help a few fellow users out:)

Also, might point out the last line of the file information: "No errors detected in compressed data of E:DownloadsExamplefile.zip."

So how difficult would it be to add this compression format to VDJ instead of having to buy other software?

Posté Fri 16 Nov 07 @ 2:46 am
All of my Karaoke files were zipped with MP3+G toolz and there are no issues opening them either in xp or Vista, I do expect there to be a delay of 8 seconds when opening ie: one file containing 300 branch files of which they contain 14 to 18 songs each, my VDJ has access to over 60000 songs with out issues with the one exception. Sorry i can't advise on a easy solution. Are you using XP or Vista which versions as VDJ 5.5 resolved the issues of unzipping in the main.

Posté Fri 16 Nov 07 @ 3:57 am
Tried your file in PCDJFX-KJ and it wont open so not a fault in VDJ. unzipped it and rezipped it with MP3G4 Toolz and worked in both.

Posté Fri 16 Nov 07 @ 4:29 am
I can tell you this problem stems from a Version that was kinda weird, I remember this issue on Pcdj back a few years ago. It was something to do with MP3G toolz, but I cant for the life of me remember which version it was.

I have been using the WinAmp plugin for 5 years and have never had a problem opening the files.... So incorrect...

Nevertheless, going to try the software above and see if it works
