Strange, bought a 1000 Euro laptop with an 512 mb ATI Radeon and 3 gb memory and still got the freezings probs.

Your laptop has just 128 mb memory

DJ T BOOGIE:

Your laptop looks great.
Also gonna search for this one.

asus f3jp

Intel Dual core 1.6
2 gig ram
Ati x1700 256mb

£400 off ebay, 2nd hand, but still 18 months of standard warranty offered by asus remaining.

i just broke my screen fri the 22nd (my laptop bag fell off the bar9cheap ass bag!!))but i ordered a new one and installed it this saturday march 1st .
the screen cost 200us with nextday delivery. it was simple to install . i didnt want to go looking for a new cpu cause this one was working soo goo with my videos!! thats why i just fixed it insetad and put it to use saturday night with no problems as if it was never broke(although i hated spinning the 200 bucks it was worth it.imao.
mow i use a messenger bag instead of the handel bag with wheels (it was the handle that pressed into the screen when the bag fell

good luck and happy shopping

@ tayla: wussup homie i see we celebrate our b-days a week apart .lol. my b-day is feb 19th .heheh
anyways i just got my internet back working (where i just moved has free wireless)yay for me lol. just dont think it'll cut for vdj radio though.but i need to get gigatribe again .will pm you if its cool.
thanks

hi anthony

as i've said in a few posts i consider mine to be on the low end of specs compared to a lot of the guys here but for whatever reason its doing the job that vdj needs it to do, funny thing is i have'nt even done any tweaking to it either, out of the box installed vdj and its done the job ok since... so if it ain't broke i'm not gonna try and make it better lol

hope you finally get sorted anyway

Tayla

Yes Tayla,

Thanks.
I saw that laptops with an Intel 950 video on board don't have the freezing probs.

With your answers I gonna look for a good one without freezing probs

Alienware...:) no headaches with video ..(knock on wood)

I have Toshiba laptop with same specs. Just a different model.
I only use it for music and still can't seem to get it working right.
Can you tell me what setting you have, I have tried many different ones but
still have issues. It just hangs up for about 30 t0 40 seconds when loading a track. (Not all the time)
Also at times it takes longer some time during the night. Used to get a ghost effect, but
that has gone away.
Any suggestions please??

Hi Bogart

Just to clarify, are you loading tracks directly from the internal hard drive?

just re-install giga it won't cost nothing you can keep doing this as long as i keep my subscription going so don't worry about any fees, that goes for anyone that has come to the end of their trail period with giga and want to get back on "the link"

sorry anthony

Tayla

Heard that laptops with no high specs also good perform with videomixing.

Then it's painfull with my specs that it has that freezing problem:

AMD Mobile Turion X2 TL64 2.2Ghz
250GB S-ATA harddisk 5400RPM
3072MB DDR2 667Mhz (1 x 2048 + 1 x 1024) + 1GB TurboMemory (RobsonModule)

8* DVD-SuperMulti Drive/ 8-in-1 Card Reader (MMC/ SD/ Mini-SD /XD /Memory Stick/ MS Pro/ MS-Duo/ MS-Pro-Duo)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 512MB and max. 1280MB with HyperMemory
15.4" WXGA ColorShine TFT (1280 x 800)/ Internal Rotated 1.3M Webcam
1 x Headphone-out jack, 1 x Microphone-in jack, 1 x Line-in Jack, 1 x RJ11 Modem jack for phone line, 1 x RJ45 LAN Jack for LAN insert, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x IEEE 1394 port (Firewire), 1 x TV Out (S-Video), 1 x Express Card, 1 x DVI Port, 1 x VGA Port
Windows Vista Home Premium NL/UK/FR

from what I gather about laptops on this thread. It's the luck of the draw if you can find a laptop. Sounds like it doesn't matter what specs you have it depends on the components.

fatkatzdj,

You're 100 % right !!!

That's why I don't puck with those wimpy little machines. Except as back up. Actually my laptop does well, I just have not had a chance to get the sound card right. I just finished a new build, and will put it to the test, some time next week.
