I have just installed lots of windows updates for my pc. I have also installed microsoft .net framework 2.0 and the controller still doesn't control vdj. I haven't installed sp2 as I have heard of it causing problems with some other programs. Do you think sp2 is essential to get the controller to work? I'm pretty sure my laptop has only got sp1 and I have managed to get the controller to work on it. I have downloaded the vdj 5.07 demo on my other friends laptop which has windows vista and I am going to try the controller on it. DJMIX346 could you explain exactly what you downloaded to get it to work. I just cannot see what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks cstoll. Just to update I have just tried my dac-3 on my friends laptop which has windows vista and vdj 5.07 demo, and the controller works fine. Looks like I'll have to install sp2.

Ok got it working just fine. For some reason I thought the directions said to drop the Dll. file in the virtual DJ folder and not put it in the controller folder. Once I placed it in the controldevice folder it came up correctly on the controller. The pitch bend works great now and it is not freezing up. Thanks for putting up with me while I tried to figure this out.
Let me know if this solves your problem before you install SP2. You may not need to do that but it is worth a shot before you install it. I will burn through this tonight and let you know if I am having any troubles with SP 2 installed but it looks great so fare.
Dac3.dll goes in the My Documents -> VirtualDJ\Plugins\ControlDevice folder

I spoke to soon, I decided to shut down Virtual dj and restart it after It had been working perfect for me and what do you know I am now getting the fatal crash error message with the smily face asking me if I want to try and have virtual Dj recover the crash. This just keeps going over and over again. This is happening when I try and push the Config button. I restarted the computer, launched Virtual DJ and I could get into the config menu with no problem. once I load a song un using the explorer menu in Virtual DJ I have the problem.
I also figured out that I drop and drag a file from windows explorer into a player and I have no problems with the crash. This crash only occurs when I try and pull a song from the virtual DJ explorer menu. The music is on a seperate drive than Virtual DJ and it is an internal SATA Drive. To me it sounds like there is a crashing problem with the program trying to use songs that are not on the same drive. I do not have problems playing songs when I start the program, just a little glich when I press the Config button.
I have attahced my Crashguard report if it will be of any help.

Launch VDJ, go straight into the Config, Write down your settings for Sound card, Options, Performance tabs. Go to the Browser tab. Bottom section. For each drive listed in the drop-down box, Select the (in this order) Fix, Check, Clean. Close the Config, then Close VDJ and reboot.
Please post back you settings you wrote down and how VDJ ran after rebooting.

I have now installed sp2 on my pc and I am happy to report that the controller is working. I have managed to get the dac-3 mapper made by jpboggis(1.4) and this is working and is obviously a massive improvement on the native support thats built into vdj. I am very grateful for everyone who has helped me in this post.

Ok, I did the Fix, Check, Clean on the drives and the problem is still there. The program crashes when I load a song from the browser tab in Virtual DJ. the program only freezes up when I use the 300 gb storage drive. this is a Sata Drive in the rackmount computer. When I load a song that is on the Operating system drive it does not freeze.

When was the last time you did a check disk or a defrag on that drive ? It sounds like you have some drive [data access] issues if it only happens with a specific drive.
