Download and install Audacity - it FREE! You can record, edit, and add effects to sound with this nifty little app. I use it all the time ;)

Another thing you can do is call local radio stations on the weekends. Most of those DJs are looking for ways to increase their exposure. Ask them to create a drop for you, and tell them if you use it you'll record it and send it back to them for their demo real.....
