It would be interesting to havce a new option: "Default files", as well as many softwares.

=> It could be a page in the options with a few fields:

- Samples: The directory where the samples are stored on the computer
- Database file: The link to the virtualDJdatabase.xml file
- Shortcuts file: || shortcuts.xml
- ... (history, ...)

That option would be efficient for users which have VDJ installed on different Drives.
This way these users (I'm one) must not copy their personal files each time they use VDJ and without editing Windows registry.

For the samples, it's more easy to adjust the link to the good directory instead of clicking a lot to go to the good directory in the case of the samples are stored on a different directory / drive.

What do you think about it ?

clax - you could also use a file synchronization program to keep the files automatically synced for now.. until they add this to the program =D

im using a program called SyncBack (search for it in google.. its free) to keep my mp3s synced between my desktop and my laptop, which is damn handy, rather than me trying to find only the new added files/changed files.. it will do it automatically =D

Yeah I like the idea that you could set default folders...especially for samples, I dont want to browse for them I want to be able to load them quickly.

I'd really like to be able to create additional search Databases and when doing a drive scan select which folders will be scanned.

like this.

Database__= D:|
Music_____= D:|Ripped|Singles, Albums, Compilations
SFX______= D:|SFX, Loops
Karaoke___= D:|Karaoke|EK, EZ, Sunfly
Videos____= D:|Videos|mpg, mov,avi, dvd ___ "This would possibly be a future feature."

This way I can know that when I do a search and pick a track I'm not going to play the karaoke version of it.
What do you think?

Thanks,
Ross.
PS Sorry if the formatting is weird.

I have thinked a lot about about this idea and I stil think it would be a great professional feature.

I have my all collection on 2 HD.
On the first I created 3 directories in the root:
- Karaoke
- Music
- Tools

In the tool folder there are also:
- Jingles
- Voices samples
- Scratch samples
- Bass loops
- ...

For example:
------------
When I load a sample or a jingle in VDJH I have to click a lot to reach these folders!
That's boring.

=> I think it wouldn't be difficult to implement this idea in the VDJ code.

=> I hope very much that this idea would become reality.

Thanks in advance to Dev Team and all other teamers.

Hi Clax,
and how the software will know when you need to load a song or a sample and so on, and open that folder in advance.
I also "suffer" from the "too many folders and sub-folders" problem.
So What i asked before (for this problem) was :

1. Shortcut keys to the favorite folders (one key to go and open a folder)
(why not to other folders too - or more than 10 favorite folders needed...)

2. The left-right arrow keys (in keyboard) to work like in windows explorer: collapse/expand the highlighted folder for easy (and QUICK) browse of folders/subfolers.

To be more specific on this (try it) :
In windows explorer : pressing the left arrow (keyboard) 1 time it closes the highlighted folder, press again goes up one level, and press again goes UP to the root tree view.
In Virtual dj left-right keys have effect only to highlighted folder. Not usefull if you have MANY subfolders...

Let me know what you think and if these are solutions to your problems too.

George.
