The Serato Box works with virtual dj. I live in New york and its rare to see anyone using virtual dj. Almost all the clubs use Serato. They all say that it doesn't give any problems.

i tryed serato serato is awesome

can be used with the SL1 box.. but you may have to do a little tweaking
would be good if you had the SL1 box to configure VDJ to it properly

Why you should buy serato and play with virtualdj?
I don't understand this..

Thanx for all the replys....and i never said im gonna buy serato and play with vdj.....No! i wanna install the serato sound card drivers...and use it with vdj ....see if i get invited to any club to play.. they got serato not numark. If anything am gonna use vdj and plug it up to the clubs sound card which is serato...but will it work thats my question!

it will work. I used tccds with it. just install the serato soundcard drivers. I think you have to tell vdj to use the sl1 under "sound card" in the sound set up tab.

The only thing I would warn you about, as it happened to me, is it might mess up vdj when you go back to use tccds with your original soundcard. For some reason when I went to use my m audio connectiv card the tccds wouldn't work right and I had the settings set correctly. I had to unistall vdj, zap everything from the registry, and reinstall vdj in order to get it back to normal. Oh and I had to unistall the SL1 drivers.

Up to you to accept the risk but yes you can use vdj and tccds with the Serato box.

I have NOT verified my problem with someone else using the same soundcard and a pc. I do have a friend who has Serato and uses PCVJ with the SL1 box and has no issues. I do not know if he has another soundcard that he occasionally uses with pcvj.

@ dj wally_1

I understand what you mean mon.. cause...that is the truth facing us VDJ users
You step into a club... of course it would be great just hooking up to whatever setup they have in place
Of course - the usual Serato setup.

Personally the benefit would be tremendous... if you get a regular gig 2mro then... you are all nice

Anyone who plays VDJ on a SL1 box setup.. let me know

@djsonath
yes buying Serato (for the SL1 box) to use with VDJ makes sense (for vid jocks)...
considering that it has to be tweaked to get it to work flawlessly
as opposed to buying Serato + Rane Mixer.. which you would still have to take the Mixer to the club for setup.
Plus a lot of money spending..... for the Rane

hope you understand the logics

vDJ 5x works fine with Serato SL-1 box ! Just be sure to select the SL1 box in the Sound Setup of vDJ before you begin.

I have experienced a couple of times where there was no output initially, but I haven't figured out if it is my problem yet.... in either case, vDJ began pumping out properly after a minute or 2 and was fine for the rest of the 6 hour gigs. No worries....

FYI serato does not supply an open driver on mac for any one looking as a mac user , it will only work on PC.

I run this setup from time to time whenever i have audio gigs. My problem with this setup is that it works flawlessly tonight, and tomorrow is behaves very qwerky with the exact machine/settings, it is not consistent for me which makes me feel very uncomfortable.
If you are going to try tis setup, please ensure that you run 5.2.1 they address the serato issue in this update.

count me in too
i use serato sound card for vdj
i had maya 44 and i hated it
it was not loud at all
a great starter sound card but serato isway better and like everyone said if i play a club i just plag serato into my laptop and i'm mixing

on winXP vith vdj pro/numark cue/numark virtual vinyl:

-the sl1 box works great with tcv.

-the ttm57sl works also great as mixer with built in soundcard, but there is no timecodefunction and midi possible (tried everything no way with the actual firmware on the ttm57sl).

the official asio-drivers by serato you get

here---> http://www.scratchlive.net/forum/discussion/?discussion_id=38253

on mac:

sorry, no asio-drivers available.

i will be testing out my setup this afternoon at the club i just started djing at, and the grand opening over the weekend went flawless with vdj + TC/numark IO. They have two serato boxes though, one for the two CDJ 1000s and one for the two turntables, and I want to start using timecode cds and their allen heath mixer. The owner gave me a copy of SSL to install on my computer which I did so hopefully the drivers are installed right (please let me know if I need to do anything else to get the drivers to work on VDJ....do i have to dl them specifically from the link metroplex mentioned?). I'll let you guys know if I have any issues but I have a quick question, will I still be able to use the total control on the side to control the effects for virtual dj?

you dont have to install ssl, just install the drivers i Posted. Ssl itself dont Support the asio drivers, the sl1 is native supported by ssl.

If you install ssl, nothing will happen when you connect your pc to the sl1. ONLY the asio drivers will be able to make a connection between vdj and the sl1.

you're right, initially it did not recognize the box when when i plugged it in even though I had installed SSL, luckily I had the installation cd and when I ran the install wizard again it worked, I guess it just pulled the drivers straight off the cd. Anyway after some tweaking on the CDJs and in the timecode settings I got it to work flawlessly. Now my only goal is to convert the other dj that djs there with me on Friday night to convert from serato to VDJ cause its gonna be a pain transitioning the usb cable of the box from on comp to the other and still keep the music going.

buy a 2 gig mp3 player with on screen titling and run that while you swap. i got one at staples for like $25 i use it as a back up. you can load event related music for each event as a backup and or just to swap out laptops.

hey djsynstr, thanks for the advice, was thinking about doing that or just burning some MP3s on a cd to play while he sets up. but on nights when we will be going back and forth all night i love the fact that I can use the total control with the I/O sound card and only take up one line in the mixer....thats what i love about VDJ, so versatile.

I also use the SL1 box with VDJ, as a matter of fact I use the scratch live Vinyl's with VDJ. They both work flawless for me.

or you can always tell the owner to get this baby haha
http://skratchworx.com/reviews/switchbox.php
its a box that would allow two dj set ups so say A and B, when A is playing ( the box selects A) other dude can have its gear hooked up and when needed they just switch to B then A can just pick up gear and left and start over when another dj needs to jump in
...i hope this made sense? if not just go read the review it would be much clearer and has some nice pics!

to stay in topic im curious say you have vdj, then you have your ssl 1 box and you have your mixer and cdjs, once havin installed drivers for the box and configuring the timecode, would you use seratos timecode cds? or would you use vdjs timecodes? (even though ur using ssl 1 box)
