I was trying to find a previous post where someone mentioned that they did not recoomend video mixing with a laptop, but i couldn't find it to referece it in this post. I have still yet to install 3.0 on my laptop and have just been testing on my desktop. I just have too many gigs going on right now that I just don't feel comfortable switching when I have had such a stable system for so long all running from my laptop.

Is there a new minimum system requirement for the new 3.0 version?

I thought a major feature of VDJ was to have it on a laptop so u can have the ease of going from gig to gig and just hooking into there main system.

It took me a couple trys and a fresh install but my Toshiba laptop P4 1 gig me seems to be running ok with 2.10. Now I am frightened for 3.0, however I am not interested in this time in videos. I do run karaoke all the time though. 1.6 never game me a problem. I also never use TCV.

it works GREAT on laptop! ;)

I only use it on my laptop...

And 3.x works better on my laptop than previous version, when it comes to video mixing

For audio mixing, 3.x is just like the the previous versions. Works great on your laptop... even better because of the new improved audio engine for better stability

dont worry ;) I used 3.0 at my club on laptop this weekend :)

3.0 works a lot better and smoother for karaoke files also...

the new video/karaoke engine is 10x faster, and have a lot better hardware support! :)

try it, you will NOT be disapointed

Yea, you don't need to worry, it can only be a danger if your actually useing video, rather than useing the update, but this update also has an improved audio engine (so I hear)

And even with video, the only case you should worry, is if:

1) a programs video engine is no good.
2) your useing super big or corrupt files.
3) you have a slow chip (below 1 gig).
4) you have less than 512mb of RAM.
5) Windows is working too hard or your computer isn't clean (uses alot of resources)
6) you don't have a good cooling system (external fan ıs good, but laptop elevatıon ıs better)
7) you do not maıntaın your laptop very well e.g canned aır or useıng a haır dryer ınto the fan to get the mıcro dust out (whıch can be blamed for alot of problems one a laptop gets to be a few months old)

The first thing I did was install it on my laptop, after a minor issue, all seems to be working well and even better after disabling/tweaking a few options.I think where you might want to be a little cautious to be care ful not to show porno movies with VDJ video features.

@Management Team : Is this an issue?

Thanks guys.....I'm feeling more comfortable now.....i'm just gonna wait for the MIXSTATION skin to be updated for 3.0 and I'm gonna make the switch.

What has been changed in the audio engine? Will I recognise a better quality in the sound? I've been quite satisfied with how my system sounds now....I can't imagine it sounding any better than it already does.

Its more stable and smooth, thats the change, not the audio, but the audio engine.

nope ;)

video preview in skin is not there in the older Mixstation skin

but you can still preview and mix in the separate pop-up preview window in any skin :)

i tried the 3.0 on my toshiba silverline with 256 mb ram.
set my internal mem. to 4000mb . a big cooler and it works like a charm.....
but maybe it's something for the next update, that vdj don't cost that lot of ramms...
a new update is for free....and a new pc not.....

.................................lol....................

but i'm proud of the team.....for me it's a very cool birthdaygift....

happy birthday djjb. sounds like all went well with 3.0. Don't have the time right now but 2.1 upgrade worked with no problems (other then a few days later, reinstalling maya drivers..strange but I'm not blaming vdj) I'm a laptop guy 768 ram, AMD...forget the numbers...processer...sounds like I should be ok. Use TCVs but not video mixing. I'll go for it next chance and smile or frown on this board. I'm expecting smiles like always. Nice job with the updates. What does a .9 upgrade mean vs. a .1 upgrade....upgrades are always good..just have always laughed at the number system? :)

Go Dev Team Go.
