Would just like the ability to zoom into the waveform.

You can on the top waveform, and the scratch waveform, and the POI waveform, and the BPM waveform
So I guess you are talking about the track waveform?
 
I should have made myself much more clear.

The ability to zoom into one which is playing.

Say I want to look at the last minute of a track whilst playing it.

But I've just found the way using POI. DOH!

The things I don't know about VDJ because I've never really had the need to know them before.

You should have a read up on the Sandbox feature...
