menu opens fine for other files and Remove option is there, but if trying to remove sample from sidelist these are the only options
same menu for both 32bit and 64bit - is this a thing or is it something missed from previous? have never noticed it before and don't want to delete the sample but seems only way to remove with this menu

I see the same. No regular remove in the dropdown when it's a sample
The delete button works as regular remove, though
So maybe just something missing in the menu when it's a sample

creating sample, then dragging to sidelist and choosing delete apparently deletes sample completely from Sampler folder as well.

already reported last year but nochange :(
Workaround :
1) add a normal track to tle list
2) select both the track and the sample
3) rightclick the track
4) the remove option is present

Delete key (in sidelist) only removes from the list, not from folders..

deleting them from the sidelist removes them from the Sampler folder and sends them into the recycle bin.
