I understand that to play time coded vinyl/dvs, u need an interface and whatever. But if I wanted to play just regular vinyl records, would VirtualDJ be able to play/read them without an interface?

No. How would it be able to "listen" to the sound of your record without an audio interface ?

To add to what @PhantomDeejay has said, the interfaces have a "Pass Through" mode (a per deck setting), which tells the software to not interpret the signal coming in as DVS, so you can play your regular Vinyl.

Can i do DVS and with just normal vinyl (but play the songs I have on the computer, not the original vinyl songs) and an interface? Or do I specifically need a time code vinyl

No, you can't just play a normal record and have it control the computer. It has to be timecode vinyl.

You could also consider Phase DJ.
It will let you user regular normal vinyl, with a gadget on top that tracks your movements on the turntable
and fully supported by VirtualDJ

Or just get timecode vinyls as already mentioned. VirtualDJ support several ones, both VirtualDJ own vinyl as well as vinyl from Serato and others that you'll find in local DJ stores
