I'm playing songs thru a portable hard drive... been playing fine, no problems. Yet in the last 48 hours the music plays for 20 seconds, then stops for 3 seconds then plays then stops and then just deterirates to useless garbage... Both decks. Can anyone help?

When this happens check in task manager to see if your computer is running out of RAM.
Could also be a buffer underrun. What controller and drivers are you using?

Also, it would not be a bad idea to check the drive via a S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) and/or Windows built in tool(s) for any faults.
