Sujet VDJ software DSP or Controller on-chip DSP for EQ (which one gets used?)
nilaymkPRO InfinityMember since 2019
Many controllers come with on-chip/hardware audio processors (DSPs) (e.g. my Roland DJ707m provides 3 band EQ and Filters effects in the hardware), while there are other controllers with different specs. e.g. just 2 band EQ, or no sound card, etc.

How does the VDJ EQ/filter logic work? Does it always use the VDJs own software EQ? Or does it use hardware/controller EQ if one is available and fallback to software when it is not. Also is there a way to force use of software EQ or hardware EQ.

Just wanted to better understand how the sound works

thanks!

It differs, and will normally be described in the VDJ hardware manual for each unit
Basically the VDJ eq engine is disabled when the eqs (and gain and channel faders and master volume and pfl volume) are handled by the hardware
If the hardware then still sends midi icodes, which most modern ones do, those are mapped as fake controls (the scripts litterally starting with "fake_") which means that the controls still move on the screen, but without changing the audio (because the hardware is doing that)
