He's got a point, it's not a good one, for the platform DIGITAL dj tips has, they are kind of unaware of the digital aspects of djing [they still think mostly analogue]

but his point that does have merit; vdj could have another ad campaign,
There's scratch - dvs performance, sure you have to do that.
Then there's the new features and entry level introduction to features.

What's missing is the "show off" "I made this script, one button it loops 1 for 2 beats, 1/2 for 1 beats, then calls echo and brake stop" etc

the video doesn't have to get into all the details [don't scare them off with deep script], and guy making the video [with a following more than my mere 250 on YT] doesn't even have to know it himself.

Named DJ speaking to a vdj technician, cool stuff can be shown off.
It'll end up with more "how" questions on the forum, but this is the most responsive forum, users & devs. At a technical level our forum beats all others, at the question level and the reply time.

Users just need to see what we can do, we have all the building blocks, we have to show off something with all those blocks used together.
 
As Apple have more than proven, people fall for the shiny marketing BS. Sadly that's what Atomix need to do instead of hiding a brilliant product under a bush.
 
 
If you look at the comment I left under the video it basically explains why I think the points miss the mark.

They wanted to focus on rebranding, UI and effects as the main problem for why VirtualDJ got a bad rep. That's not the reason imo. I think the reason is ppl, whether experimenting with DJing or just stating ther DJ career, were showing up with it mostly unprepared (either they pirated the software or didn't understand how to use it to do gigs properly), did a terrible job at the gig, and then after a while ppl started associating ppl using the software with bad performances/being a beginner. Effects, etc are nitpicking on top of the stigma (Serato's effects were meh for forever, and they even redid them again recently and nobody complained there, yhe current UI is functional and fully changeable to something else) - you can adjust, use the hardware effects (which most top line pioneer controllers come with), or use VSTs, but yes they can always be improved. Being hard to use is also a nitpick - Atomix has provided videos for transitioning form well know othet software that works well. However I agree that the configuration can be overwheing to a new user.
Those platforms should be working to eliminate those problems throught their content and lessons imo.

I also stated that the video he said that was an ad campaign that was distasteful (as well as most of the other videos) are actually constructed from the music videos of the songs they were playing. So while yes, Atomix can avoid using those videos/parts of videos and could produce better marketing videos, those same videos are being accepted elsewhere so why is it acceptable there but not in the couple seconds ad?
 
OK well unless people happen to have seen the original videos, they wouldn't have a clue what's going on. It just seems very random and bizarre. I guess from the responses (inc Phil's), people don't know that the clips are from the artist's videos.
 
The ability to use any controller, as well as customise a midi controller is one of the main attractions for me (my scripting ability aside lol)

I use a Hercules P32 with an innofader i installed in it; and was able to customise the buttons to do exactly what i want......Coupled with my SL1200s and DVS i couldnt be happier; this simple rig has more ability than an XZ using serato....

Effect are a moot point; back in the day the only effects we had were outboard boxes. In my part of the world any real DJ would have had the ability to mix and scratch live, our only assistance were headphones , and maybe a monitor mix. I dont need to say more on how annoying it is to hear the same group of effects after each track....

I always challenge Serato users to match the technical capabilities of VDJ......If anything one could argue Serato and Recordbox is not for the technically inclined who want to be creative; but for those who only want, or can cope with, a basic digital mixing interface.

dont get me wrong, I am not saying those software are not good; but the facts speak.....

Marketing is what has those popular programs where they are today. Having to pay big money creates the illusion you are getting something better, but this is often times not necessarily true.

@groovindj I agree, it was clear he didn't know they came from the videos...and yes they can work to minimize the negative visuals - they were just trying to promote stem mashups.
Still, he left the floor open - if you don't like the videos, what would you like to see on the marketing? A name change (I honestly believe that will do nothing but transfer the problems to a new name but that's just me)? You don't like the UI, then what would you like to see or is it just the waveform that needs to be improved?

Not trying to be negative, but I'm either not seeing the value in the existing suggestions given, or the for the problems actually mentioned, I'm missing the concrete direction to take to make the situation better.

@OP I agree there is a lot that the software offers, and the can always improve the interface, configuration and marketing, but there always seems to be focus on the negatives and no highlight of positives when it comes to these platforms, and a lot of the problems appear to be nitpicks and not actual functional deficiencies.

I e never heard any of those tracks but to me it was obvious what was happening 🤷🏾‍♂️
 
@thesoundinsurgent it was quite obvious to me (and I just searched the videos to be sure) but when you are looking for something to complain about you make these issues (instead of asking them about the videos).

I also see they hid my response - I had no hate speech involved, just pointing out the obvious as to why his take wasn't correct in my opinion (it largely looked like what @groovindj posted in terms of content). They kept the #1 forum troll's rants on VirtualDJ behavior though (which as usual, is based on either incorrect config or usage of a low budget controller).

This is the reason I tend to not take their platforms seriously - you come with constructive criticism and they censor. You come with unconstructive criticism/a rant, and it's kept, as long as it fits the agenda.

Edit: I see it's still hidden but guess who somehow responded to it 😂
