Sujet Manual GAIN for each song (in BPM settings)

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

No algorhytm will 100% estimate the volume of song (even mp3GAIN).

Please include the option to manually set the gain correction for each song.
It should be considered as other option for gain.

Autogain:
- Always 0db
- Always -3db
- Always -6db
- disable
- always match

Manugain:
- "use just manual gain if set"
- "use manual gain as correction for auto"
- "ignore manual gain"

Exactly. One of the things I'm eager to see implemented. :)

With the new audio engine I'd hope that we wont need to work around the issues with gain.

Firstly, when people talk about optimum sound quality in VDJ, they talk Limiter and Timestretch, but useing gain also degrades sound quality with the current engine, so for best sound quality turn auto gain OFF, leave the default gain despite it's value, and use that as a guide for adjusting gain manually at the mixer, which will retain quality much better than VDJ.

Like I said, when the new sound engine is completed we should hope that these things change.

Sound quality is good, but ideally needs some work, and we now know it's getting it :).

You would always need gain, because the "sound level" of mp3's are not the same..

At least not if you got them "somewhere" , and did not rip them all from your own CD collection using the same settings ;)

Since they are not normalized to the same level, any software mixing mp3 needs gain.

(if you have an external mixer, you can always turn sofware gain off, and use gain on mixer instead).

Last solution, if you dont wanna use gain, is of course to normalize all your mp3s. But even that would "degrade" your collection. Might even do worse "damage" than using software gain

by the way.... using gain, limiter and timestrech would degrade sound in ANY engine or ANY software. Even in hardware!

Any altering of sound will do that.

But Dev Team is working on making it better, less loss and better output :)
