Sujet WINDOWS VISTA TO SUPPORT 1394B

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

i hope vdj will support it also in 4.0. here is all the infor The 1394 Trade Association announced Microsoft's plans to support 1394b, the 800 Megabit/second version of the popular FireWire audio-video standard, in the upcoming release of Windows Vista.

At the annual WinHEC Conference in Seattle, Microsoft announced plans to include support for the IEEE standard 1394b in Windows Vista shortly after the release of the new operating system. Building on the existing support in Windows XP for 1394a, the 800 Megabit/second transfer rates in the IEEE 1394b standard (expandable to rates of 1.6 Gigabit/second and 3.2 Gigabit/second) will further expand the bandwidth available in Windows for scenarios such as high-definition audio and video transfers and external storage solutions.

1394b can support real-time audio/video distribution over existing wires in the home while also supporting a multitude of other high performance computing and connectivity applications from a single interface. It is scalable to 3.2 Gigabits/second.

1394b is a networking standard with the ability to support up to 45 watts of power over the bus, allowing users of PC and CE devices to interconnect, provide power to and communicate with over 60 devices in a daisy-chain network, significantly reducing the amount of bulky power and connector cables typically required to wire a home entertainment network.

1394b is currently available in a complete range of high-performance PC and storage products from Apple, Intel, Seagate, Maxtor, LaCie, and Western Digital Corporation, among others. The 1394 Trade Association has estimated that by the end of 2006, more than five million 1394b-equipped Wintel and MAC PCs will have shipped.

The 1394 Trade Association is a global organization dedicated to the advancement and proliferation of the IEEE 1394 standard in the consumer electronics, computer, peripherals, automotive, industrial, and other markets.

Virtual dj (and all other installed softwares) has nothing to do with it.
This is a windows/driver issue to support it or not.
Its the same with usb 2.0, (this needs SP1 or later.)

"vista is awful"
such a bold statement for a program still in development, I guess this is one reason why Atomix don't broaden beta testing outside of their internal ranks and vip users.

"all the updates and upgrades will be included in sp3 for xp"
of course they will, it only makes sense for Microsoft to ruin their new product (not really). You expect the Windows XP kernel to magically change with sp3?

people used to criticize windows xp before it was out and 2000 was the dominant os. Six versions of Vista is probably OTT, but the requirements aren't as bad as you say, (1ghz is what's required for premium, not 2ghz), and the cheaper os' aren't that limited, new users to PCs won't even know what's missing

"Windows Vista Beta 2 is now available for IT professionals and developers with MSDN and TechNet subscriptions."

Yes.. final product.. sure. Anyway this is way off topic, nothing more need be said on Vistas performance, at least until it hits retail.

Ah, editted your post to improve your credibility, good move.

You said you were using the final product at work, I'm definitely not seeing things :-)

Personally I won't upgrade for at least six months, usually I'm upto date with technology but with something as important as an OS I'd like to let everyone else test it first and then make my decision.

Anyway I think I'll stay out of this topic now, the question has been answered and all I've done is add spam, sorry. Glad you didn't take things personally skyfxl its nice to have members with some humour on the forums :-)
