what is the most amount of ram i could put in a laptop

that is directionaly related to the motherboard in it

usualy 2-4 gig

 
well could u find out for me my laptop is a hp dv8380us
 
2 gig max
 
there are a few 4GB models out already. soon, you'll see 8GB max models appearing.
 
do you know your revision number , or which motherboard you have?
 
no i dont but it came with 2 gigs, a gig in each slot, but it doesnt seen to work the way i want it to, i was thinking of putting two 2gb ram sticks in each slot, its because im getting audio skips and slow acting, and i havent even used much of my memory, people have told me its cause i have 2 many processes but if i try 2 end some it says stuff like it can cause undesired effects, and i dont wanna mess anything up

yeah, it sucks that i cant do anything 2 it, but there has to be something else though
 
 
but what can i do 2 stop the auido skips
