hey gang:
i have a BOSS Dr. Sample SP-303 -- i know, very old gear but works great for me
i use it for sampling through my dj mixer by rca cables
it also has MIDI IN
if i get a cable (not sure which cable) would this work to control vdj?
i'm guessing midi to usb?

No, because you would need a MIDI OUT in order to send info to VDJ.

Now that my MIDI plugin SDK is near to be finished (I just need some more debug) this will be possible. You can contact me by visiting my blog (click on my name), then we can see which messages to send/receive ;)
As for the cable, I suggest you to buy the "ESI MIDI Mate" or a similar one.

i concir with cstol on this one , it cannot send a midi singal it can only recive a signal from a nother device to sync timeclocks / send messages

@skyfxl: Trust me, with my SDK you can also send messages (I've sent you an outdated version which already had it)

If the device only has MIDI IN, it can only receive MIDI messages, not send them (It needs a MIDI OUT port for that.)
I..e: You cannot use a device that only has MIDI IN to control VDJ, but you could control that device using another MIDI controller (E.g: VDJ with the above SDK could send MIDI commands to that device to control it.)

@ jpboggis: He wants to use his sampler, so he must connect the output port of the computer to the input port of the sampler. He didn't write he wants to control VDJ with his sampler!

Anyway, he can sample data by telling the device to sample via MIDI ;)
