could someone tell me the difference of recording mp3 & wav formatt

In short, WAV is full cd quality (i.e. commercial CDs are actually pressed from WAVs or AIFs) whereas mp3 is a compressed version. It removes frequencies that can't be heard from the track. The lower the bitrate, the more is removes.

Simply, the file size, a 3 mb mp3 file is like 30 mb WAV

not exactly :) there are less frequency bands in the recording , as they are removed during the compression this is mostly taken from unhearable frequencies however the lower the bit rate the more is removed and the more effect this has on the quality of the recording ideally you should use 320 kbps or higher :) like stated above
