Just curious how everyone likes it. I'm also curious as to why would one choose virtual DJ over say Megaseg?
One rumor I've been hearing is that there is a problem with playlists. Songs will suddenly skip ahead?
I've been considering virtual for the video playback features, but now I hear that you cant play directly from .VOB because of some quicktime problem. Ugghh what to do?

Songs suddently skip ahead on MegaSeg?

mine crashes all the time when i try to map midi and crashes for no reason sometimes aswell. Loads songs very slowly from external HD aswell. (on 2 different macs exact same problem)
I wouldn't buy just yet tbh, and no word from atomix on when these issues will be dealt with if at all.

ye of little faith.... Of course these issues will be dealt with. You can see from the history of vdj on the pc how quickly the software progresses. The same will be true for the mac side.

I can't search for songs. My text doesn't work in the search field ... No crashing though. :-) Im still using MegaSeg till they fix that search field.

its the first release there was bound to be the odd hickup for goodness sake.
they are aware and will fix them ! you dont need to use every opertunity to "remind them"!
for me its been great had lots of fun times mixing with the mk2 dj console which on mac can now natively achive 1ms
which is fantastic compared to that roughly of 512 on windows.
on the whole its aslo been very stable apart from the known issues and i am on the whole very happy.

May I be the first Non moderator to step up and say i like it!
It plays songs well and mixes with the Mk2. If you have the Mk2 and need to mix audio its works.
It searches for me, i just can't use wildcard searches. Issues are being fixed, like the mods stated.

I have been a dedicated VDJ user for years, and I must say, the developers constantly update and fix noted bug issues.

I'll join you on that jchiar!
Even though I experince the search problem in my version of CUE, it doesn't stop me from loving the software.
I've actually gotten so used to not having search now that it almost doesn't matter...hehe
And the MAC just works so perfectly...
And I am SOOOOO happy that video is working so smoothly..no problems what so ever, even though several people doubted that the GMA950 card on the MACBOOK would handle videos, it does it great.
I'm still having lot's of resources left.
The other day I was running Limewire with multiple downloads and uploads, running safari logging into my gmail, while I had Microsoft Entourage downloading mail in the backround. I had a game of solitaire on dashboard running, and also both quicktime and VLC open.
All, while loading 2 MPEG video tracks in CUE and guess what? No glitches, no artifacts..nothing wrong. and I run it at "Best quality" and lowest possible latency....try doing that with a windows PC...yeah right...
(*cue ConQuest:)

im havin issues wth the MKII when running to an external mixer, channel 3-4 is very loud and the sound is dull. I have it set up correctly and i have messed around with the mk2 control panel. Thinking it might be my MKII though.
otherwise in output/headphone mode it does work well and has low latency ill say that much.
And of course we are going to keep complaining, thats what customers do ; ) It just shows how much we love the software and WANT it to work seeing as we complain but are still using it despite the isssues!
Posté Thu 26 Apr 07 @ 1:48 am
I'm not knocking the software at all. I'm not trying to remind them of its imperfections either. I'm truly interested in Virtual DJ and will probably be buying it but it sounds like I'm a little early. I just have to ask because there is not any trial versions yet.
Your right everything that is the first edition has its problems, whether its a car, a new computer and especially software. I look forward to checking in, in the months ahead. Thanks for the honest answers guys. :)

Glad to hear its working well on a MAC book! If this trend continues with the next builds, ill be purchasing a Macbook myself.
I have stated since the beginning that a Macbook specs "should " be enough, since Ive run the PJ version on a dell with the same GMA 950 video card..

I personally wish they had a DEMO ( even though i own a copy) , so switchers or soon to be switchers could experience the product and become VDJ owners.
Ill admit, i dont usually but software without testing it first.

demo will come once the pro vesion is perfected.
Posté Thu 26 Apr 07 @ 5:01 pm
can't wait for it to be perfected:)
I'm getting the first pieces of Virtual Vinyl next week as well...looking forward to trying the TCV with 3rd gen vinyls and MAC...I'm counting on it to be superior to serato ;)
