Sujet: WHATS THE BEST - midi/usb device for mac

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

OK, so I held out on buying VDJ for a while as my main interest is in video and I've been playing off roling footage on my DVJ using cue and call points for scratching... I just won the Intel DJ.VJ laptop battle in london and I got a sweet new macbook pro on its way (not only that intel are getting about £3K's worth of software on it including Serato, M-audio, Traktor and of course VDJ... Back of the net there!)...

As I deal largely with with I wanted to automate everything through my mixer so I thought in for a penny in for a pound (UK expression, meaning to go all out) and buy a DJM-800. My question is this. What is the best usb to midi controller to get for my mac (Bearing in mind i may well end up using bootcamp and XP to run video as from lengthy research seems to be the best option for mac users wanting to do video until leapord comes out and VDJ starts working a bit more in harmony on the mac platform)?

Cheers,

IK

personaly im getting the total control

alot of improvments should come to the mac platform when 5.0 mac is out :)

You don't sound like the kind of DJ/VJ that would use the Total Control. Don't waste your time or $$ with it. I own/use the DJM 800. Worth the money if your gigs are paying you a good amount. I also own a Macbook Pro (17" 2.33ghz, 3 gb Ram, 200 gb HD) and run Virtual Vinyl with Bootcamp and XP. It has been running smooth, all video at 4-5 hour gigs.

Which Macbook Pro are you waiting on? I had quite a few problems with the newer generation (2.4 Santa Rosa). All on the video side, issues with the video card. Ended up returning it.

Great i just bought a brand new santa mac top of the range serious $ not used it with video yet as i dont have any although i do intend to do karaoke soon will this be affecred?

The 800 is ordered and the man from my bank say Ouch! lol... Is boot camp still the way forward for Video then until Leapord?

My setup... similar to yours..

DMJ-800 midi connected via an Emu Xmidi 2x2 cable/usb connector... works perfect both Mac and PC
Denons 3500s for the TC (i have some issues with the new v5 timecode engine)
Motu connectiv
Mac Book Pro 2.4 Santa, with 2 gigs (had some serious issues when upgrading, however most have gone since i repartitioned and did a 100% clean install, i dont use the boot camp XP for anything else then VDJ and mp3 management..
External HD firewire 800

I think the EMU cable was like 80bucks or something, DMJ-800 basically every knop/fader/button is assignably.. but i let the audio run through the mixer, because you get a better sound... however loop cue efx i have assinged to buttons...

Hope this helps
