when I force the automix with double click of next song the outgoing video skips v slightly - does not do it when song ends and unforced automix.
also, with forced or not forced the incoming video skips a beat after the transition - at least whole machine doesnt freeze these days - just need to fine tune this now ??

fade remove intro / 16 sec / repeat
HP 9640 / vista with aero, task ++ removed as per your advice / 2gb / 256mb GE Force 8600M GS / 5400rpm sata hdd
thanks for coaching me towards vista / vdj rel 5 .....I cant get entire machines to freeze at all. GREAt.......... I'm having this 'mini problem' as described above BUT last week I have a more severe problem on HP .............- video was freezing for 1 second then recovering. I set prefer background as opposed to programs, I disabled "user accounts ( these were the only 2 tweaks I could find that I had not already applied) - this fixed the 1 sec video freeze but caused audio skip on entry on next song ( this is all automix by the way) . I reversed my new tweakes and selected 'safe mode' in vdj performance settings ( else... preset fastest, latency auto, overclock unchecked) I do not use any additional hardware to mix.
I have this hp lappy on 30day return so maybe I should goto Alienware or Sager ?.also the hp9700t looks great for price but I'm past caring about proce - too much strees, needs to work flawless for me......should I stick to desktops ?
