Sujet software riaa preamp problem - Page: 1

Cette partie de ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes

Hello

I'm have following setup:

laptop: 1200 mhz, 512 ram, usb 1.0
i have usb hub with external power adapter.
i use a iomega 2,5" extern hard disk
i have a mixvibes u46mk2 external soundcard powered by the usb hub
usb hub is connected to a PCMCIA usb 2.0 card
my turntables: 2 x Reloop RP6000mk6

I've always been using mixvibes software.
Since a while I wanted to take a step to the virtual dj solution.

I kept trying to make it work with the demo, but failed.
as long i keep having problems i cannot buy the software what's logic...

my settings:

virtual dj:

latency= 512 ms
auto clock and safe mode is off.

TCV settings: clear sound is off.
when everything is checked out (also software riaa preamp) I have disturbed signal

normally i should see 3 clear lines of white dots like following example:

<img src="http://members.iinet.net.au/~kice/TCV/2.jpg">

instead of that i see a whole bunch of white dots moving irregulary. impossible to see 3 clear lines.
Even when i connect the grounding, it stays the same. also quality is 0%.

I suppose the mixvibes u46mk2 has built in preamps. so i don't have to enable software riaa preamp.
But the moment I enable it, I finally see 3 clear lines and my quality stays at 100% constantly!!

When i try to play a tune I don't hear anything and it's like the wave bars are flipping, it's not loading fast enough.
also my cpu is at 100%.

I don't understand why I should enable software riaa preamp? my turntables are grounded and my reloop rp6000mk6 even has a line function in it.

I also tried every driver possible, but the problem is still there...

I want to get rid of the demo, but don't want to pay for a program if I know it won't work...it's quite understandable...

Thank you very much for any help

Greetings

Tomaz

Just to confirm you are using VDJ / Numark tcv?

good question...

VDJ TCV was not available here in Belgium.
So i have the Numark Virtual Vynil TCV.

Everybody said they are exactly the same

yep they are the same. it does not work when you set your tts to phono and deactivate the riaa preamp? the u46 mk2 has a phono preamp.

hello

There's no option to switch the turntable itself to phono or line.
It's like the turntable decide himself.

Also, I tried it with regular technics SL1020's.
There I have the same problem.

The 0% quality results in songs that start playing from the beginning etc.
that's quit sucky when mixing two songs :)

thanks for the replies!

there are still two ways to choose between line and phono:

- in the mixer itself i have line and phono input.
- on the mixvibes u46 mk2 i have a switch from phono to line. but i suppose that's just to play regular lp's.

the input on the soundcard from the tt should be phono. and the output to the mixer should be line. try to set the timecodesettings to "absolute" clear sound off and riaa preamp off and then press autoconfig.

did you try to clean your needles? did you change the input to line when you did connect your mp3 player?
i do not know the u46 maybe it is a software problem?? i'm not sure what you could do but i'm sure that someone else on the forum can help you! sorry!

I use concorde pro and they are brand new; they are clean.
the input was line idd.

really can't find a solution and did try everything possible...

it looks like you arent getting a signal at all. can you post a diagram on how you have your gear hooked up?

your TTS should be connected to the soundcard inputs and the soundcard outputs should be connected to your mixer. you should have riaa preamp on if your tts are connected to line inputs on the soundcard because its a phono signal and needs to be boosted.

hi

Everything is connected correctly.
I have full control over the song playing in virtual dj: i can backspin, pitch, cue, scratch etc

but its not stable at all because the lack of quality % TCV.

i drawn an ugly sheme:

have you tried adjusting the input levels in the u46 mixer panel? the lnie/phono should be on phono and RIAA should be UNchecked.

yes grounds should be on the u46.

ok, so you can control the tcv, so that works. what happens when you stop the turntable with the needle sitting on the record? does the audio stay stopped or does it move a bit?

ive noticed that if a ground is not working properly, the noise will cause the TCV to move the audio anyways....

if i press stop, the song stops playing.

in the mixvibes mk2 there are built in preamps, so i don't need to select software riaa preamp.
one thing no where explained is following:

on the mixvibes you have the mic | line | phono switch.
it's always been on 'line'...
when i select 'phono' i always hear the 1khz tone through my headphones.
i thought it was an option to play regular lp's and 7"-records in between (when using this, it sounds clear)

the thing i never noticed is, when selecting 'phono' i can see 3 nice white lines of dots!!
and i mostly have 100% quality...

yet the beep tone i hear is not normal.
and now i have some fuckery with the drivers...

also when playing a song now, i can't hear a thing, and songs start around 2minutes, it's like he can't cache the songs...

i reinstall the drivers..

Posté Thu 17 Jan 08 @ 12:24 pm
i uninstalled all drivers

installed the asio4all beta 2 drivers.

when i select a song it jumps directly to the end of the song the moment i move the turntable..
i reinstalled virtualdj, but the problem is still there...

that is what i was trying to tell you :) maybe you should try to set the latency in vdj to "auto".

Posté Thu 17 Jan 08 @ 1:16 pm
i've put the latency on auto.

the moment i play the song cues immediately to the end of the song (even when the whole song is loaded)
sometimes it plays for a while, but then the same problem again.
also i keep hearing this buzz tone through my headphones.

when i put it back on line, i can play both sites and i don't hear the strange buzz.
that was my logical decision was to put it on line...

would be very nice to find a solution this way...

thanks for all your help

i start checking other topics and regulary see following question:

"i have numark virtual vynil TCV and i get 0% signal"

everytime it's about the virtual vynil tcv...i'm starting to think that's the problem...

is the buzz the timecode sound? did you mute the inputs on the u46? if you see nice normal steady waves in the config windows its probably not the TCV.

ok, to review. you have turntables, so the front of your mk2 needs to be set on phono for both channels. in your timecode setup, top radio buttons should both be on vinyl and software riaa preamp should be unchecked. next to the waveform display you should be on the top radio button, not the second.

like others have mentioned, it sounds like your inputs are coming to your output which should not be happening.

i dont know anything about the mk2, but with the m-audio there is a control panel that allows you to monitor the inputs. this needs to be off because you have to block the timecode signal from the output, its only for the software to hear.

i downloaded the mk2 manual just now. look at page 13. my guess is your inputs for 1&2 need to be up but the monitor for 1&2 needs to be all the way down. this is probably why you can hear the timecode signal which is what you dont want.
