Sujet what is the best video format?

I just bought 2 new mac book pros...each have 2.5 duo core pross..4g ram and nvidea 8600 with 512

I need to know what format do i need my videos to be in...in order for me to play them in vdj?

This is my first time even using a mac so I definitely a newbe.

Mp4 or mpg 2 is a good place to start.
