Are you going out the USB on both units direct into USB ports on your system?

Yeah, the CDJs are natively HID and that is what we use. Pioneer put MIDI in there just for programs that don't yet support HID interfaces.
Hope you are enjoying them now :)

And for the record, because VDJ supports multiple soundcards, you don't need to create an aggregate device.

Any fixes on the cdj-400 scratch issues? I'm about to pull the trigger on a competitor...

Hello to connect it is not needed since the interface controller and native in virtual dj

hi,
i\\\'m not sure i understand.
the controller might be native (so no mapper is needed)
but i have to make a connection between the djm 700 and the pc.
the back of the djm has a midi out like this

and the pc obviously has a usb port
i thought i needed something like this to make this connection.

i was wondering if some types or brands of these cables worked better with the djm than others

Almost any MIDI interface will work, but avoid the M-Audio UNO. We've had a few DJs report problems in using it with their DJM700's due to a chipset conflict in the interface.

Alright here's my situation. I have a Pioneer DJM 600 Mixer, and I have a Dell Laptop running VDJ. I want to control the software through an external mixer (DJM 600) and I thought if I bought the Echo Indigo Io it would serve my purpose but I guess it doesnt. SO instead I am going to be purchasing an ESI Gigaport HD. I want to know if this soundcard will allow me to control vdj through the djm 600. PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS ONE!

The DJM-600 is not MIDI capable so cannot control VirtualDJ in any way.
A sound card also can't enable control of the software - It is for audio output of the decks only.
However, if you are only looking to manipulate the audio (Volume, EQ, gain) then you do not need MIDI. All you need is a sound card that can output two separate channels, so that you can route the audio of deck 1 to one channel on the mixer, and deck 2 to another.
If you are looking to control song playback, you should purchase MIDI controllers, such as Pioneer CDJ-400, 900 or 200.
If you need to video crossfade, then you would also need a MIDI capable mixer such as DJM-700 or DJM-800.

Gigaport is a very bad option... it don't allow you to use timecode. Better use Echo AudioFire 4, sound Would be great and you could use any CD_Player or turntables to use with. DMJ-600 would work only as a regular mixer, but you don't need more if you go with timecode control. In this way you could use VirtualDJ+DJM600+CD-Players or Turntables + Timecodes.
Also if you want to use another mixer, like DJM-700 or 800, this Echo AudioFire 4 also has MIDI inputs that let you use those mixer with VirtualDJ Pro.

ah I forgot to specify that by "control" I mean using the crossfader adjusting volume and eq and effects and play back. That being said I think gigaport would be suitable, but I am considering doing time codes, say if I buy the echo audiofire4 will it allow me to control everything w/o the midi? im a bit confused so thanks for your help

Effects built into the mixer itself can be used. They are applied to any audio signal input into the mixer.
When using timecode, you will only be able to control song playback (Play/pause/cue, pitch, scratch, hotcues and manual loop in/out.) Effects built into CD players cannot be used (They apply to the timecode signal and corrupt it.) The same applies to master tempo/keylock. You must activate this from within VDJ itself (If you need keylock), and either use effects in VDJ or those built into your mixer.
For timecode, you will need a 4-in/4-out ASIO sound card such as Hercules DJ Trim, Native Instruments Audio 4 DJ, ESI Maya44 USB, etc.

I also forgot to mention that my decks are cortex hdtt 5000's which have no support for timecodes I'm assuming. So I guess I'm stuck with the gigaport because I'm very limited in options. What are your suggestions for what I should do?
Posté Thu 18 Mar 10 @ 11:02 pm
Cortex HDT 5500 DON'T HAS MIDI/HID control. IT's useless this HDT5500, if you want to use any software program, you need another equipment. Better go for 2 Pioneer CDJ-400 or 2 Denon DN-1200. If want only to use a single soundcard like gigaport, is better your Indigo soundcard than gigaport.
Go for whatever you want, for me the bext quality sound I get is with Echo AudioFire 4 (also AudioFire 2 has same specs but less inputs, this could work too).

My setup: 2 cdj2000's and a djm800.
Virtualdj 6.07 with windows 7
Had lots of problems with cue and play and the mp3's sounded false.
Tried everything, even formatting the laptop to xp and vista, nothing worked.
Now I swiched back to vdj 6.05 and all off the problems are gone........
connected my cdj2000's with usb to the laptop and the audio to the mixer.
Use my cdj2000's soundcard.
connected my djm800 with ESI Midimate 2 interface to the laptop.
