Would be very useful to have VDJ display the incoming signal in the waveform (& calculate BPM) when the TCV is in bypass mode. just like when you load one of the sound inputs through the Soundcards filetree menu.
This would bring a whole new world to using vinyl with VDJ...

The waveform you see in VDJ is a representation based on VDJ analyzing the music (MP3, WAV, etc.) file. What you are asking for is a REAL-TIME waveform generator of the vinyl track you are playing in by-pass.
I think that would be tough and some what a resource hog on the VDJ application. I could go into a long list of changes that the DEV Team would have to make to accomodate such a feature.

The problem is that you cannot generate a waveform that hasn't been read (analized) yet, meaning it wold only be shown behind the current position. And without timecode you cannot determine the position of the song, meaning that reverse play (scratch, backspinn, ...) would be shown as song still going forward - same as recording a signal (well, that's what it actually is). Makes it pretty much useless for live "reading".
What could be done is BPM display based on the live signal analysis - simply put: a standard bpm counter which already comes integrated in many mixers. Again, not needed ;)
So unless you convert a whole track from analog device (vinyl) into a digital format, it just won't work.

it is already avaliable to have VDJ analyise & display an incoming signal, it is alittle hidden though. you go into desktop through the vdj browser & then sound cards & you can select an incoming signal & drag it onto a desk (it only displays past information). all im asking is for this feature to be automatically enabled when in Bypass mode. it should not be too hard

good idea i didnt know that existed! but the BPM calculating would not work without a fundamental reprogram of the BPM engine (something the DEV team need to do but just plain wouldnt)
