Last night I decided to use my DMC2 at a club gig. Everything started very well, when certainly the left deck's cue and pause buttons would not respond at all, after some time the pause button started working again, but not the cue. Later, almost at the end of the gig both browse/scrolling buttons where like slipping, they just wouldn't work the way they are supposed to, and also the pitch controllers were dead at times.
So, is it only my controller that is buggy, or is any one else having issues with the DMC2?

How much use has it seen?
Might need a button service (open unit and attach with switch cleaner). I've had it happen on a DAC-3 and an HC4500 as well.

Hi Mate
The DMC2 does have issues after prolonged use (and I do mean a year or so of regular giging) with the individual tactile switches failing. But no more than any other unit I have used.
The scroll/select knobs are a pain to replace but if your unit was working ok to tstart with I would suspect an outside influence ie USB interfearence or some issue with the computer. When the switches fail they tend to stay failed.
The switches ar dirt cheap and easy to replace. I tend to change the most used Play/Pause/Cue switches every year or so but gave up with the scroll knob as they realy dont last long at all.

Hei guys, thanks for replying.
This DMC2 has not been used much, I'd say I've used it like 20 times at gigs, so its kind on new. The thing is that I forgot about it after I got the CDJ-400s.
The laptop I plug them to is the same laptop I use with the CDJ-400s and the hercules MK2, and they work just great. Maybe I'm just unlucky with this DMC2, since just came to my mind that I had to send it back to Numark for service when I bought it, cos it was conflicting with windows once you plug it to any PC.
I'll try cleaning or changing the buttons, and let's see what happens.

If it's still under warranty, send it back for repair otherwise you will void the warranty by opening it up to access the micro switches for cleaning.

Sounds like a faulty device. I have a DMC2 too and it's been working just fine. However, I use it somewhat gently-handed in "studio conditions".

Yeh! have to be truthfull and admit that I do hammer the buttons on mine but it stands up fairly well to the punishment.

Reporting back :)
I'm glad to inform that the only buggy thing was me lol, well, in fact the problem was that I had configured vdj to use asio4all. That is what was making the dmc2 to act buggy. Anyways, it works like a charm if configured the way it's supposed to.

Friend of mine has ESI U46SE, and when using ASIO4ALL it keeps crashing VDJ like every 15-30 minutes. I'm a Mac-guy, so I don't have to care much about ASIO4ALL, but from what I've seen it's a huge pile of crap.

"The switches ar dirt cheap and easy to replace. I tend to change the most used Play/Pause/Cue switches every year or so..."
Can you please dear friend Dazmax help us, all the dmc2 users, about 1) where to find-buy new Play/Pause/Cue switches and 2) how to replace the older ones ?
This is very critical, at least for my numark, as it appears that after almost 1,5 year of full using it, those switches need to be replaced...i need to press hard some times to apply the action...

Hi Leon
I will see if I can put some info together with a few pics to help.
I am not shure which component suppliers are available in the countrys where you all are but I think RS Components are worldwide.
You may need to find a local electronics company. In the UK I use a company called CPC. Maplin Professional Supplies and Rapid Electronics (In the UK) also supply switches which will fit. I will dig out the part numbers and post them for you.

Hello DazMax :-)
I found a supplier, which is ...
www.instrumentalparts.com/nudmdmc2sppa.html
The only thing i wish for from you now is some pictures or a video showing the procedure, so all we the numark dmc2 users will be helped from it.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry I can't help you with your question, but before you replace any switches, it might be worth trying to clean them. You just dismantle the unit and then spray "contact cleaner" or "switch cleaner" into the tiny gap between the "push" part of the button and the surround and then press it plenty of times in a row to work the cleaner into the switch.
Obviously you have to dismantle the unit first, spraying into the gap around the buttons on the outside of the unit won't do anything as they're all stuck together and quite a long way away from the electrical contacts.

Can you please make or share here a tut video on youtube showing how to dismantle and air clean the unit inside? I am somehow familiar with electronics so it will not be trouble to follow the needed steps.
And most of all thanks for your time :-)
