XP Professional 32 bit would be my OS of choice, however it seems to run fine in Windows 7 32 bit as well.
You can carry out optimisations if you want to but I've never bothered and VDJ works fine on both those operating systems.
I would avoid 64bit for the mo ..... 3gb RAM is more than enough anyway!

Even though windows 7 works, i still preffer Windows XP. Its compatable with all the drivers and the latency is very low. The lower the latency, the better the responce time.
Thanks Sischo..

XP Pro is the go, as it is the most stable I've found for VDJ

hello
I've been running it just fine on WIndows 7 Premium x64bit. Pretty stable with the optimizations, the longest session i did was a 5 hour Gig, and performed without any hiccups. If I decided to add WIndows XP. Would i get anymore Performance gains as far as latency that's mentioned above?? I'm using virtual DJ with Hercules rmx. On the herules rmx control panel, my Latency is set to 10ms, that's to stay on the safe side. and in the virtual DJ app, I tick off Safe and Overclock, left it on auto and the performance SLider is at the default position which is more near to fast performance. I notice alot of people with the hercules rmx set's the slider to fast, I did that, and didn't really notice much of a difference, so i put it back where it was, just to insure myself. If anyone has any suggesstions or using the hercules rmx stably at a lower latency, please share, thanks
Asus G51 (Best Buy Version)

Came with Vista x64 originally, upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit Premium

There is no "best" OS for using with VDJ. I use XP on one machine, and Vista64 bit on another, with no issues. The big thing is proper configuration of your PC. If it is a big box outlet PC the user is going to need to spend time deleting all the bloatware that came with it. If it is one custom made, there are often tweaks that are still needed to ensure maximum performance. That being said, XP does have the fastest usb speeds of all the windows OSs on the market at this time.

Exactly Terry, Every person has their on experiences with operating systems.
Don't put me on the XP-Express. I had "issues" with XP.
After I updated to VISTA I've been crash free (using 99% video) since December 2008 with more than 1000 hours of "live performance" on the machine. My backup computer which I rotate in and out of service also runs VISTA with no issues. (I have Win-7 on my home computer and it's been NOTHING but a pain.

I agree with you mate!!!
I've used XP (32bit), Vista (32bit) and now 7 (32bit)
Out of the 3 I do prefer 7. I haven't had any problems with it since I installed it last November. Both my DJ software's run perfectly on Win 7!!!!
