Sujet DAC 3 Controller Freezes on me.. HELP

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I have recently bought a 2nd hand DAC 3 controller which will not work properly with any DJ software I try.
Virtual DJ runs fine from the keyboard and mouse, but I can't get the DAC to consistantly work.

All lights light up when powered on, and seems fine untill loading a track on the right side, when all the lights flash on and off and the buttons become unresponsive. This also happens when i pause a track on the right deck using the controller. Has anyone had this problem and can it be corrected. I assume this is a problem with the controller, not a driver or mapping issue. It is the same on other PC's and software.
Again this seems to be related to pressing the Cue button on the right deck.

Help Help help!!!

Hi. The only problem I've had with dac3 was a common problem to few users......usb connector on dac3 pcb needed resoldering. In your case I think is a hardware fault....maybe someone who knows better will help you.

Thx
I have investigated further to better describe my problem. I think it may be a power issue when using the right deck. I have notice that the flashing lights when stopping the right deck are actually the controller rebooting (ie if i set the time display to time remaining, after stopping the right deck all lights flash and it reverts to its boot up state as if it has just been plugged in)
I have opened looked inside and can see no visual problems inside. Im desperate for help....where do I get spare parts from??

Try carefully moving the USB plug where it connects to the controller (Without pulling it out.) If all the lights come on then it means that the USB connector needs resoldering. If this is the case, then the jolt from pressing buttons near the connector might be enough to cause it to loose its connection. Also, make sure that the controller is either directly connected to a USB port of your computer or to a powered USB hub.

THX have tried this with the usb... it doesn't seem loose or lose connection, if fact it comes out quite a way before it looses power.
Any other ideas?

Most likely the USB connector needs re-soldering. This is a common problem with this old controller due to the way it's designed.

If you have the appropriate skills, carefully disassemble it and then check and resolder the joints of the USB connector on the circuit board.

Also clean/lubricate the micro switches because these commonly cease to work after a while on the DAC-3. Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Button%20on%20MIDI%20controller%20does%20not%20always%20respond.html

If you don't have the necessary skills, take it to a qualified electrician or a friend who has these skills.

NOTE: If the seller accepts returns, then it may be better to return it to them due to being a faulty item (Unless it was stated by the seller that it had this problem) and then purchase a newer controller such as a Denon DN-HC4500.

NOTE: You will need to purchase the full VirtualDJ Professional to use the DAC-3 or any other MIDI controller: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

Thanks very much Keith. I have been using PCDJ DEX and have a fully licenced software. Is it correct that very shortly Virtual DJ 8 is coming out and if you have Dex you are entitled to a discount as PCDJ and Virtual and joining forces??
