Sujet Numark DJIO.... upgrade issues

Well I just updated my system to VDJ 6.0.8 and while I was downloading it, I thought, hey! I should install the new windows 7 driver for my DJIO while I'm at it. I ignored my own advice of never installing more than one update at a time (for troubleshooting upgrade issues). Anyways, before the sound from my DJIO was "passable", every so often I would get a slight popping noise like some other users here. I was hoping to eliminate those pops with the WDM 2.8.40 Windows 7 32bit DJIO driver (released in Oct 2009 it looks like). Anyways, the popping has been replaced by dropouts now. Every 4th or so video, I now get a split second dropout of audio, and I mean a complete dropout, so it's really noticeable, unlike the pops from before. It's almost like a skip, but the music doesn't stop, just the audio does.

Of course Numark has covered their ass by calling the Windows 7 drivers "beta." I am wondering if anyone else has had the same experience. Because I updated VDJ at the same time, it's possible that VDJ 6.0.8 is the problem (but I highly doubt it). I tried to rollback the driver, but the option is greyed out. Any advice how to do that? Can I run the Vista driver? (I can't remember what I was using before). Any advice would be appreciated. I am running bootcamp on a macbook pro.

I tried to install the xp/vista driver, but it was a no-go. Re-installed the windows 7 driver and the snap-crackle-pop is back. REALLY annoying. Did anyone ever find a fix for this DJIO issue? It wasn't this bad before. Just because I am not 100% sure, I am gonna install the old VDJ and see if the dropouts disappear. I just recorded a mix for my website and had to go back and paste new audio over the dropouts, a real pain since i didn't know the BPM of the mix (I was constantly bumping the speed up throughout the mix). The pops are still in there too. Maybe I should bite the bullet and buy a real audio card, I seriously don't know how any company, even Numark, can put their name on this POS, or expect people to wait months and years for proper drivers.

Hello you should use the "Asio" option. WDM is exclusively for use with Itunes.

Use this:
Inputs None
Outputs Headphones
Card : Asio
Driver : numark usb
Channels 1/2 main 3/4 headphones

Thanks for your reply... In the VDJ audio tab I am using the settings you have mentioned, but aren't I still using the drivers from Numark installed from the WDM file? Sorry I am confused. I think the crackling and popping and now dropouts are being caused by my processor maxing out, so I have changed my latency settings within VDJ (there is also a DJIO control panel to make changes, is this the WDM you are talking about?). The crackling and popping have stopped but I still get dropouts from time to time. I didn't get this before (although I must have been close to maxing out the processor before) Does VDJ 6.0.8 require slightly more resources than previous versions? Maybe my DJIO drivers do? Please, any suggestions would be happily received!

Our drivers contain both WDM and ASIO support. You should be sure to choose ASIO this will use this technology.
If you use the basic option it will use WDM. I would recommend changing your latency to Auto and sliding the performance slider to fastest.

One thing I found on my Dell ( Windows 7 , i5 processor with 6G Ram) was that the DJ IO would only work on 1 of the 4 USB ports I had. It was popping, crackling, dropping out, sounded like a robot...all that fun stuff. NEVER did it on my old Dell with XP, but for some reason would with my new one running Win 7. Anyway, I noticed one day that the inside of my USB ports looked different. All of them were black (weren't 3.0), but 3 of them had little slots in the plastic piece, and one was solid. I called dell to ask them if there was a difference in any of the ports, and finally found out that the one that had the solid plastic piece, and was directly beside the power input was on it's own board, and not attached directly to the motherboard. Now, I have NO idea why it only works on that one not connected to the main board. Anyway, point being, try some other ports if you can to see if you have a fluke problem like me.

I am not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but I never had it with the old VDJ. All of a sudden VDJ is marking both of my decks as channel 1. BAsically it makes one of my decks on my pc screen non-operable unless I press the eject button on the other deck to then start using the second one. If anyone can help on how to fix this I woul really appreciate it.

If you are using a MIDI controller and it is doing this (Both decks are controlling deck 1), go to CONFIG -> Mappers and choose your MIDI controller in the drop-down list.

Then click on the button to the right of the drop-down list and choose the option to assign controllers. Click on the appropriate MIDI controller in the menu and then choose the deck(s) to assign it to (For two single deck controllers, you will need to assign one to deck 1 and the other to deck 2. For dual-deck controllers, you will need to assign it to decks 1&2.)

Also, make sure that your sound settings for the DJIO are configured correctly.

Go to CONFIG -> Sound Setup and choose the following:

Inputs : None
Outputs : Headphones
Sound card : ASIO (Choose Numark USB in the drop-down list.)

Choose Channels 1/2 main 3/4 headphones.

Click APPLY.

Plug your speakers into OUTPUT 1 on the back of the DJIO and your headphones into the headphone socket of the DJIO.

Alternatively, if you are using an external DJ audio mixer and wish to output the left and right decks to two channels of the mixer, configure your sound settings as follows:

Inputs: None
Outputs: External Mixer
Sound card : ASIO (Choose Numark USB in the drop-down list.)

Plug your headphones into your external mixer and use the channel CUE/PFL buttons to select which channels to pre-listen to.
