Sujet: Different controller mapping for different skins...Possible?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I may be being thick, but is it possible to have different MAPPING files for controllers so that it can act on different skins in different ways?

I have a mind to make a skin specially for the Numark Mixmeister Controller mapping that I created, so a new mapping file will have to be made, but I want to retain the one I've already created for the default 4 deck skin in V7.

Any ideas anyone?

Further to that, a possible future development could be that controller files could be zipped up as a single resource so, for example the controller zip for the DJ STEEL would contain it's DEVICE, MAPPER and SKIN files and so on for all controllers that are mapped.

This would allow controller sets to be created, and alternate controller sets to be created...or maybe it's just an idea that should have stayed in my head!...lol

triggs...I knwo what you mean...having to go through the mapper tab to work out certain aspects is a right royal pain for mapping files that are built into the product.

A half way to that would be a facility for PRO users to be able to download the DEVICE and MAPPING files, for controllers that are built into the product, from the site, so that they could work on new maps.

have you looked in some of the controler files in download some have midi files like vms4 dj dad has put in there.

You can use my profile utility to switch mappings and skins and settings all in one go. This means you can launch VDJ preconfigured with a certain skin, mapping and sound setup combinations all from one place.

As for accessing the inbuilt mappings - you already can with a little trick. Select your controller, make a small change to the mapping - for example select a control, add a space to the end of it's mapping (and you can even then delete it straight way). Click OK then go look in your mappers folder.

Most people generally don't want their mappings to change with their skin however.

SBDJ...nice trick...and well worth knowing...thanks.

As for the Profile Swapper...I did look at it, but I didn't get the impression that's what it did...I'll download it now :)

No problem.

Profile Switcher will switch all your settings (including which skin you are using) and your mappers folder.
