Sujet: Headphone Pre-listen Help?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I am extremely confused about how to listen to a song ONLY through headphones before it plays out of the main speakers. I have a soundcard with two output jacks, although after reinstalling windows on my computer there is no audio virtual interface for the device( as well as no way to see what brand or model it as as far as I can find) I'm assuming that I can program these two jacks as two separate channels, or I can at least use them as the "splitter" referred to in the sound setup (would prefer non-MONO sound but either way would be nice)
I have the "output" set to "Headphones" and the soundcard set to "4:1 Card" which as far as I can tell should allow me to sample with headphones...although I don't actually see a button anywhere that actually says "prelisten" "headphone" or anything of the sort.
I have Virtual DJ Pro 7.0(b342) with the 4-deck skin, and a 2 year old Gateway Laptop if that helps.

Any help is much appreciated, I can't figure this out for the life of me!

First of all, VirtualDJ v7.0 is out of date - We are now on v7.0.2. Please register your serial number http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and upgrade to the latest version: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

To be able to pre-listen to music using headphones, you will either need two sound cards or a sound card with multiple outputs, such as a 5.1 surround sound card or preferably a dedicated DJ sound card (E.g: Numark DJIO or Native Instruments Audio 2 DJ.)

With a laptop, you can add a USB stick sound card that will provide you with the additional output that you need.

Alternatively, you can use a single sound card and the mono split option in VirtualDJ's sound setup, however this will only give you MONO sound. You will need a splitter cable to split the left/right channels - Please search Google for: 3.5 jack splitter to mono

Once you have suitable sound card(s), you will then need to go into VirtualDJ CONFIG -> Sound Settings and choose Outputs: Headphones and select the appropriate sound card(s).

NOTE: In Home FREE, sound card options are limited. To be able to headphone pre-listen, you will either need a 5.1 card built into your computer, a basic external USB 'stick' sound card or use the MONO split option. For more advanced sound configuration, such as two separate cards or a multi-channel external DJ sound card, you will need to purchase either VirtualDJ Basic or VirtualDJ Professional: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html

To choose which deck to pre-listen to, press the TAB key or click PFL button on the skin. Use the crossfader and/or volume sliders to control which deck is output live over the master outputs.

NOTE: If you have a simple external USB sound card, then you may find the two outputs are actually 1 output and 1 mic/line input.
