Sujet Sound Problems with Hercules 4-mx , plz help

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hi there. I recently purchased a hercules 4mx and im having some problems with the sound. And i was wondering if you guys could help. When i play my music through virtual dj pro 7 i can hear almost like a compressor working really hard. Its similiar to a bad youtube recording, the volume willl go and up and down depending on how much information is in the song.

I mix drum and bass and i can really notice this. Its almost like the high and low frequencies wont play at the same time, high frequences dulled down considerably when low are trying to play and sometimes vice versa. Besides my issues with sound the unit itself is very responsive eispecially with vdj7 and there are no problems with lag or anything like that.

Im running on windows with a dual 1.73ghz proc. and 2gigs of ram. Ive also re-installed hercules drivers and restored factory settings on vdj7. At present im getting better sound on my hercules mk4 which is a shame considering the price difference. Any advice on how i could resolve the issue would be much appreciated. Thx.

In addition, ive found out i cant seem to play the 4 mx in asio mode with vdj7. If vdj7 is closed and i set it to asio in hercules control panel, it jus changes to back wdm as soon as i open vdj7. If i try and change it from wdm to asio in vdj7 it just blocks. i dont know if this might have anything to do with it and the sound issues ive been getting.

What source(s) are the music files from and what is their format and bitrate? Make sure that you use high quality audio files from a good quality source (E.g: Ripped from original CD's at 192Kbps or higher bitrate, or purchased on-line from DJ music stores.)

Please ensure that you have the latest VirtualDJ v7.0.3 installed from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html along with the latest Hercules DJ Console drivers and firmware from http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Common_Device_Drivers.html

NOTE: Assuming that it is not second hand or the discount has not already been used, your 4-Mx DJ Console entitles you to a significant discount off upgrading to VirtualDJ Professional. To receive this, please go to http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html and enter your DJ Console software serial number in the box provided.

Using WDM or ASIO will make no difference to the sound quality under normal circumstances. The main difference is ASIO will give you better/faster response for scratching, but is more susceptible to audio glitches and other problems if your computer is not optimised for low latency audio.

To use ASIO, make sure that you have the latest v7.0.3 installed and set Outputs: ASIO -> Hercules 4-Mx in CONFIG -> Sound Setup. Then set the console to ASIO mode via its control panel.

Hi Koz,
I had this same issue when i first started using my 4-mx. This issue only lies in Windows XP on certain laptops and the issue is a confliction with your laptop's built in sound card. The simple solution I found was make sure your 4mx is disconnected then go into windows control panel. In sounds find your built in sound card a disable it's use so that when you connect the 4mx it is the default and only sound card used by the computer.
This should prevent the issue.
