Hi.
I am looking to upgrade to a better laptop with about £1200 to spend and was looking for something a bit more special than the normal Hp Pavillion I use now.
I like the look of the Alienware M17X.
The model I was looking at had a lower spec than some in the range but still had an I7 processor, 6gb memory 500 hard drive, twin graphics cards etc, and of course the backlit keyboard which would come in handy for dark venues.
I have been told that this system would be overkill for my needs but I want the best I can get for my money (not mac) to run my video's flawlessly and not having to worry about upgrading again for ages.
Does anyone have any views on this or do you use one to dj?
I would really appreciate any help.
thanks everyone Garry.

I've been running a ASUS gaming pc ( retail $1200 ) for eight months without a problem. No such thing as overkill, thats like having too much horsepower. The CPU meter on VDJ barely breaks a sweat while doing video, the thing is a tank!

Hi Garry,

Alienware are just Dell in disguise, and I would never use a Dell laptop because of their cheap internal components.

As with everything, you'll never know if it works until you try!
