I have read in the forums that it is safe to disable, but what is it and what happens when i do? Is it really safe to disable?

Advanced Configuration Power Interface or ACPI controls power option parameters when running on battery power. By disabling ACPI, you will not be able to adjust the power settings during battery use and it will automatically be configured to the default setting. It will also disable the battery meter in the system tray, and free up resources in your computer as this will also work in the system background when enabled.
This is an ideal device to disable as all DJs should power their laptops externally during performance. Not to worry, your computer will still run on it's battery with the device disabled.

one of my default tweaks for every new system when i get it is to remove the battery
i also set my power profile to always on and every thing controlled by the profile to always off
that way it's always on doing nothing ......
no hibernation , no scheduled anything (including windows updates, if you do those , do with caution and
only when you have time enough to recover from any disaster caused by the update b4 you have to be at the
next gig)

ha! now I find this thread, literally spent 10 days looking for everything that could be causing my issues, and finally did this this morning, and now I'm looking for threads to show downsides, but been listening to music using my new Traktor Audio 6 soundcard and NO DROPS OR SKIPS.

This is why i didnt get a pop up before my battery died then! every skin should only be accepted with battery meter from now on.

If ACPI Battery Manager is disabled then even the Battery Status Plugin will not work (notify you) either.
So, having a battery meter (status) on a skin will not help.
