It doesnt show in the mappers folder. Is it built into vdj, stored somewhere else, or just hidden maybe?

any mappers in the folder overide the built in one, so if you only have djdads in there than this isn't the cause of the problem.

Still shows in the dropdown list in options with a full set of commands so its there somewhere. If it doesnt cause a problem no worries, was just interested that djdad mentioned it in this thread.

I am trying to troubleshoot a problem with a new lappy 7.0.5 and vms4 controller.
And what is your problem ?

Sorry, was in another thread. http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/155311/General_Discussion/The__After_Crash__in_VDJ.html
Will run fine for hours (the other night for four hours, night before was about two hours in - last night ran all night no probs), then sound cuts out and vdj freezes - no response from vms4. Restart vdj and all the folders (playlists, etc) are missing from the browser and nothing is searchable (I'm guessing database is stilll being held by system) and still no control from vms4. Only way I've found to get running again is restart of laptop - everything comes back and works happily again.
Only weird thing I have in setup is had to set memory usage thing in registry edit to 1 in order to stop "you dont have enough memory to load this file" error (system has 16Gb system memory and 2Gb dedicated video memory - how much does it need ;) My other older laptop also has that setting to stop the onload memory errors (bug?) and has no problems so I dont think its that.
BTW djdad u are an absolute legend - thanks heaps for all your work on the skins and mappers. If it wasnt for the great work guys like yourself and sbdj do on the aftermarket stuff, I'd likely be a serato/mix emergency guy by now. Thanks again for making vdj the best option for vid djs.

I think your problems start from the error you had initially, about the "..not enough memory to load the file ".
Your vga card reports faulty the memory size, so you need to look for updates for vga drivers AND BIOS.
Another possible cause, is the Hard Disc that contains your Music. Is that an external Hard drive ? Even though external Hard Discs fall in "sleep" after long non-usage, could be a bad disc, a bad USB cable, or a USB port that has not been optimized to stay on all the time (Device Manager->Righclick to each USB Host Controller->Power manag..->Uncheck ..the .."Allow system to disable devices for power saving" )
Generally, sound issues, freezes etc are due to bad computer performance and this guide will help you optimize your computer.

I'm not sure about that. All my pcs with ATI cards have given that error at one stage or another (since ver 6 anyway) - setting it to 1 in registry seems to stop the error (others have also reported success with this).
Hardrive is internal - no usb connected drives.
System fully optimised already. If this was an optimising issue, I suspect it would show before four hours of successful use.
I am thinking power issues or a cable maybe? These intermittent ones are always tricky to figure out.

install a Temperature Utility and monitor computer's temperature too. Could be an overheating issue too.

True - worth looking at. Thanks heaps for suggestions. Though this is a brand new lappy that people regularly overclock successfully without extra cooling and mine is running stock standard with no overclocking. I cant get it to fail at home is the worst thing.
