I would like to introduce myself first of all since I am new to this forum. My alias is DJ Recipe and I am from Scarborough Toronto.
I am using Virtual DJ 7 (Windows 7 64 bit) with the Hercules RMX controller as my mixer and just recently purchased the Denon DN-S3700s.
So basically I have the the 3700s going into the RMX with RCA cables then USB out from my RMX to the laptop.
I am hoping someone can help with a full instructional list of how to get the best setup. I am totally new to MIDI controllers and Digital Turntables. I have no idea how to use the 3700's as a timecode. I know Denon has an timecode.mp3 file that is available for download, so do I have to burn it to cd as a .wav? or just leave it as .mp3?
Can someone help me with a step by step tutorial instructions?
My ultimate goal is to use the Hercules RMX as the mixer and Control my .mp3s with the 3700s, while still being able to use all the default effects on the 3700s.
your help is very much appreciated.

My last question in short form is, how do I connect my 3700's to my Hercules rmx and virtual Dj.

Well i used to have that same set up now i use a mc6000 as my mixer... The way i used to have that set up was to use my rmx as the sound card and only use my 3700's as midi controllers so here is how i would set it up
First i have a computer with 3 usb connections so i would connect my rmx to one of them this is important because i used to connect my rmx to a hub and i would loose connection sometimes with my rmx. My advice is always connect a sound card directly to a usb port on your computer never on a hub. I dont know if you use an external hard drive but i do and i aslo connect that directly to my computer i dont know if that benefits me in any way but it works for me. next i connect a powered hub to my last usb port here i connect both of my 3700's to this port. this has been a perfect set up for me and have never had a problem with it.
When you ste up the sound on VDJ you will use the Hercules Asio Drivers but some computers cant handle it so using WDM is good too
so your set up should be..
Inputs-None
Outputs-Headphones
SoundCard-Asio or WDM
Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your reply..
This helps alot, I will try that this weekend and let you know what happens..
Couple other questions:
Do I still have to connect my RCA's from the 3700's to the RMX?
Also would I have to push the Source buttons on the RMX?
Do I still have to use a timecode?

We'll. I personally don't use timecode because I like to use all my midi capabilities and if you use timecode I think you loose some of that functionality I think.... when you use the 3700's as midi all your buttons have a usefull function when you use timecode all your buttons are not as usefull... also there is a great mapper on vdj that I use just go to he mapper section here on vdj anddowload it to your maper folder on your computer. Some people like to use timecode because they might get slightly better responce on he platter with timecode but I tell you I get great responce using it with midi.
Now you should connect rca cables if you are doing a party and you need to play a cd for someone then you would need to hit the cd button on yur 3700 and the source button on your rmx and you will be able to play the cd on the fly. But I think you would need to use the asio sound option for this to work. Now all this would not work as well if you were using the s3700's sound card and the rmx as just a midi... the reason for that is when you use the 3700 souncard and you would press cd button on it and you have music playing on it through cd
the music would just stop for a few seconds and as a dj you would never want that to happen... so as I mentioned before always use thermx as the soundcard or you will get silence for a few seconds if you use it the other way around. So to answer your question no you do need to connect your rca cables if your not planning to use your timecode and you are just using your 3700's as midi controllers now you would need rca. If your going to use it with timecode or plan on playing a cd for someone or just want to have cd's as a back up then you should connect them. I personally carry rca cables with me just in case I need to play a cd. Sorry for the long answer.....lol I will send you a private message with my contact info.

Unlicensed users do not have access to mapper downloads. These are only available to registered licensed users who have purchased the full VirtualDJ Professional: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html
Also, the full VirtualDJ Professional is required to use MIDI controllers and/or timecode for more than 10 minutes at a time.
MIDI/timecode can be trialled in VirtualDJ Home FREE for 10 minutes at a time to allow you to test before purchasing: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/free.html
For best results, make sure that you have the latest v7.0.4 version installed.
