the SOUND INSURGENT
I did a 7 hour gig last night and it was about 100 degrees most of the day, it was an out door gig. Well everything went smooth, came home unpacked all my gear. Anyways I just hooked everything up to make sure the heat and humidity didn't do any damage. Well whenever I try to start up VDJ it gets stuck on the splash screen and it says loading database. Well whenever I unplug my external hard drive an error will popup saying that its corrupted and I need to do thefix, check and clean thing. Here's the problem I can't get VDJ to even open in order to do it. This is the first time I've ever had any problem like this. I tried to open it up with notepad but it says its corrupted when I try to do that all so.
Any ideas on what I should do

Have you tried starting VirtualDJ without the external connected?
If not try that - once up, then plug your external drive in.
If not try that - once up, then plug your external drive in.

Ok so I let it sit on the splash screen and after about 30 mins it opened, so I did the check, clean and fix and only half of the folders are showing up as not scanned.
I did try that Chris before my first post and it just froze everything up. But half is better then having to rescan them all, lol! I have noticed that all the folders that need to be rescanned were "favorite folders"............ I still have to take a closer look but that seems to be the pattern here.
Any ideas? and Thanks for looking.
I will say this is a first for me SINCE Ive been using VDJ which is going on 4 1/2 or 5 years ;-)

OK after looking closer seems only the folders I had selected as favorites are the only ones that need to be rescanned.

OK so last night the hard drive started making the 'click of death ' so now I'm wondering if it was really even corrupted ..............looks like I'll be sending in this drive. It has most of my videos on it and now its not even being recognized.
