For the OP, check into the Radeon drivers. Check this previous post also.

When I was running XP Pro, I had to find the correct Radeon drivers to fix my issue.
I am now running Win 7 64bit, on the same PC. I had the same 4 gig of ram for each install (With XP not seeing it all). My system runs Sonique effects, borders, scrolling text, slideshow and at the same time mixing videos. It runs great. With 64bit, I use the drivers supplied by Microsoft, not any installed from Radeon.

I am rocking a Super tower equipped with a ECS EliteGroup Black Extreme Mother board with a Intel I7 Processor 8GB of DDR 3 ram and 3 ATI Radeon 5700 Series Graphic cards. I do mostly video djing have not had any hiccups in the 2 years using the setup. It's a bit pricey but I think it was surely worth the investment.
