i am using a numark mixtrack pro and no matter what i do i cant get it to work. the sound card works fine through it but the controller wont work

You say "no matter what I do" - well you need to tell us what is it that you're doing!
Give us details, such as what version of VDJ you're using, your sound card & config settings and so on.
PC or Mac? What operating system?
Walk us through each stage of what you're doing to set up.
More detail = faster solution.

have you checked your settings to make sure you have your mixtrack mapper selected...also have you tried another cable.
