Sujet The use of Multiple Monitors on virtual DJ 6

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hi all,

I have a client who is running Virtual DJ6 on his Toshiba laptop with a monitor connectd through the vga output plus his main LCD screen. When he utilises a specific feature, he is able to put the mixer on the main LCD screen and then the music video or something to this effect on the monitor display for the punters to look at.

He has no asked me to build him a 2U rackmounted system that will replace his laptop. The problem is, that a 2U rackmounted case has only 1 VGA output and not enough room for a VGA card, therefore only allowing 1 monitor in operation.

My question is, how does Virtual DJ performa the split screen operation on the laptop and, is there any way of running this system with only 1 VGA output running 2 monitors?

With thanks

Kai

Get a MOBO with either:
2 VGA/DVI
1 VGA/DVI, 1 HDMI/S-Video

Many MOBO's that has onboard Vid also has onboard HDMI/S-Video

If you already have the 2U System, then your best bet is to get a USB Video Card (hope your MOBO has USB ports).

Found the USB video cards. Interesting stuff.... One question. If they are USB 2.0 compliant only, and the mobo on the server rack is USB 1.1 they stil going to be compliant as I under the impression that the difference is between USb1.1 and USB2.0 is the data transfer rate. how will this affect the display...

SWITCH IT

The USB is going to be your main display (VDJ) and VGA is Secondary Monitor.

So the USB would be the main display for virtual DJ and, the secondary display will be the one that shows the video. Is this because of the data transfer rate or primary and secondary conduit arrays of memory allocations... Would be good to know for future reference as this is an extremely cool technical exercise in It recycling..

Please tell him to upgrade to the latest version. v6.0 is an old and out-of-date version of the software. We are now on v7.0.5. If he has purchased and registered the software, then he can upgrade for free by going to http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

If you only have 1 VGA output, then it is not possible to display video to an external monitor. He will need a video card or motherboard that has at least two separate outputs.

A USB video card is not normally suitable for video output because these usually lack the accelerated functions needed for rendering video and the USB bus is too slow, especially if it is only USB 1.1, which is a very old standard and is only capable of 12Mb transfer rate. The USB card may be OK if it is assigned the task of displaying the VirtualDJ skin only (primary display.) However, even for this, USB 1.1 may be far too slow.
